I purchased a 2007 SeaRay 250 Amberjack last fall. I noticed it listing slightly to starboard before purchasing it, but figured it was just load imbalance. This spring I again noticed the list with boat empty. I have checked all tanks and they are either empty or placed on centerline, which would not cause the list. I'm wondering if this is normal for this model or if there is a water problem in the core, stringers etc. What is the best/easiest way to check for water?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions. I am new to Club SeaRay so I hope I posted in the right place.

My 1999 270. Does the same thing when empty. Fill up the water and it is level. When water is empty and holding tank is full it leans to starboard really bad. I also do not have a generator. Not sure why?

It could be something as simple as where the batteries are placed. I'd bet money that when SR builds boats they pay attention to whether or not they will sit level in the water. Things can't always be perfect, but they try.

When the boat is sitting empty, see how much weight it takes placed near the port side to make it sit level. You didn't say how "unlevel" (is that a word???) it was, but see how much weight it takes to bring it back to level. You may find it doesn't take much. A cooler might just bring it back to level.

Thanks for the replies. The batteries are just left of center, so I doubt that is it. The galley is on the port side also. The head is on starboard. All tanks are empty except gas tank, which is on center line. I guess the next step is to have SeaRay dealer.look at it. I will try to see how much weight it takes on the port side to level it. That would be interesting to know and pass along to the dealer. Again, thanks for the recommendations!

How much off level is it? No offense, but you're making it sound like it's going to roll over. Most boats list a few degrees to port or stbd and that changes as tanks fill or are emptied. I can't imagine your dealer is going to get too excited about a 2007 boat with a list. I mean, that's not really and old boat, but it's also not a new boat either.

Did you buy it from that dealer and did you have the hull surveyed to see if it might be wet?

My boat is 20 years old and lists several degrees to port and it's because I added an inverter and six huge batteries on the port side. The simple remedy is burn the fuel from the center and side tanks first and leave the stbd tank to last.

I think I found the problem. The cabin door slides to starboard when open, which of course transfers weight. Also, I found the cockpit and cabin tables stored in a closet on the starboard. Those items combined creates the list.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Appreciate it.
