Liquid Lites - Anybody else have experience with these?

Wow, that's a "Why didn't I think of that?" product!

Price point is a bit high for me. I might have took a bite at $100.

North Americas passion has quickly changed from 'Girls Gone Bad' videos to underwater lighting.
I don't think anyone has the illuminated macerator discharge in production yet...

I am not sure I want a PVC light keeping water out of my boat. One crack and the boat may sink? No thanks...

I don't believe Brass and Stainless will have dissimilar metals issues. On the anodic scale brass is 0.45 V and corrosion resistant steel is 0.50 V so the difference of 0.05 V is within acceptable levels. As long as there is less than a 0.15 V it is fine to use the different materials.

This might be ok on some boats but on a single outdrive the drain plug light would be shinning right at the outdrive. Probably loose a good amount of the already minimal light.

That's a "Duh!" moment. I never thought of that. I wonder how much would be lost?

This is the picture on their website

My drive is below my swim Platform, so the drive silhouette would not be seen. Hmmmm.

I received this email from a rep at Tojo Sea Below. More to come on this lite and idea...

Ron,

Thank you for the interest in the Liquid Lite and I am traveling and I will get on the blogs this weekend. In addition, I have copied a SeaRay customer and he may also log on to the site and offer his opinion. Bottom line is => what a great idea, it is really bright and nobody wants to drill any new holes into their boat.

Best of regards.

Exactly my thoughts as soon as I saw the original post. I think that I will stick to my brass plug. There are enough things to worry about on my boat without this light getting broken off, etc. :smt018

The Liquid Lite plug is stainless, not PVC. Hurley Marine had the PVC light that was "discontinued for redesign".

I ran the wires threw the trim tab hoses hole. :smt001

I bought one and it's great. I have a 41 sun dancer so there is a large platform but the light comes out just fine. They are not going to compete on brightness with some big 110 volt lights but they only cost 269 and I installed it myself (with a little help) in about 2 hours. Considering that my goal was to get cool light from under the platform it's awesome. I have pictures of the light and the switch I installed that I can share with anyone. I think the product is genius idea. I walked the boat show looking for lights and when I saw this I knew it was a steal.

This one's cheaper and should solve the corrosion issue.

I have this one after paying $55 for it on an auction site. Although it purportedly puts out a lot of lumens it doesn't seem very bright to me but to be fair I've only tried it at night in somewhat brackish river water so far. Maybe in the Gulf or a clear water lake the light would be more visible.

It does seem to be very well made though and I can't see it ever corroding.

This talk just makes me want to go drill a bunch of holes in my boat and add lights and wires dangling in the water..

Anyone do those multi-color Christmas lights? I really like those... makes me feel special.

They look interesting too, but out of stock and under re-design is not a great sign.

Interesting, thanks for pointing this out. I emailed Hurley about it asking if there was a safety issue related to the redesign.

We need a "like" button on this site, similar to Facebook.

For anyone interested, Hurley CS responded quickly to my question about the redesign of their drain plug light with the following:

Please be assured that there are no problems or concerns about the integrity of the Drain Plug Light.

This re-design is merely a Patent issue.
