Lets see some Great Lakes boating pics 2015!!

What a great way to spend a summer. Nice shots all. Do you guys take dinghies through that rapids?

Yes, everyone runs through the rapids with their dinghies. Before going there, I thought there were only the "Devil's Door" rapids, but found out there are many more. I was told that because the water was high this year, they were not quite as fast as usual. We went through Devil's Door, and then found the others, but didn't really know which ones were safe to go in. Within a few minutes, some folks who knew their way around showed up and were happy to let us follow them until we got the lay of the land.

went to Erie (PA) yesterday. stopped by Presque Isle. found a little marina on the peninsula i had never known about. we didn't have the boat with us, just driving through. waves were bad enough i wouldn't want to be in them but i'd say 3' maybe. not too bad looking

Nice trip!

The sponsored boat is Jeff Sinclair, he does daily radio/twitter/facebook reports on weather, winds, etc and he is at all the events in the area. Quite the job he has. Really nice guy and very knowledgeable.

Yes its heated and a really nice building. Lots of room around the boats to wax and such.

Boltman - would be summer of 2017 if we decide to move. Will come get a transient slip for a weekend next summer and see how we like it.

All done for the year as well. The 30+ MPH winds didn't make anyone's life easy for haul out. Got the tech looking at my starboard motor, it may have to come out. It was slinging oil from the timing cover seal at cruising RPM. Sucks!

End of year ride to the storage place, always depressing!

Got a photo of the Navy Pier Ferris wheel dismantling.

I was pulled on Oct 20. I am getting stored inside this year instead of outside and shrinkwrapped. It's heated but I winterized anyway. Planning the winter Florida week with a bit of a boating fix as well. It's a long time till May.

It was a beautiful last weekend on the boat. Left the kids with grandma and grandpa and played hooky from work on Friday to enjoy the last great weather of the year.

Mark (My3Sons),

In this lock, does the weight of your boat rest on the bottom of that lock, or is it suspended above the bottom? Also, how do they account for the height of the props, rudders, etc.?

Thats the Big Chute marine railway. They have several slings set up on the railway for differerent size boats. Larger boats will be completely slung out of the water for the transport. Smaller boats may only sling the stern and have the bow sit on the wooden bottom of the carriage. Canoes, kayaks, PWC's will just sit on the bottom until they refloat. Its a pretty cool experience.
