Have a "dome" light above stove in galley. Has 2 bulbs, one for ac and another for dc. Want to replace with leds. Has anyone ever done this, which bulbs and the manufacturer or website used? Thx.

Lots of info on this site if you search LED.

Dennis (Lazy Daze) said he used this bulb for the one you mention.

Thanks, Mike! Saved me the search time.

Just a side note, if you're looking to replace bulbs because of current draw... there is much, much less of a need for this on the AC side. I have never looked into that, so I do not have a recommendation for the AC side.

Am I correct that the DC current draw for LED bulbs is approximately 10% of the current draw for the conventional 12 volt bulbs in our cabin lighting fixtures? I think that the bulbs are 1056 or 1057 bulbs ... whatever ones that have the single contact on the end. In addition to replacing the cabin bulbs, I would like to replace the anchor light up on the arch with LED.

Anchor light... Sorry about the weird wording down below. I copied and pasted it from a PM I had written to another member. I'm not sure about the amp draw, but I thought it was actually even less.

A ways back you had asked about what LED anchor light I used, right? I never got back to you. The one I used is WLED-WHP9-T from Superbrightleds.com. Page down about 2/3 here: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...28&product=CAR

From my crude measuring, it's possible the "13" would fit (height, inside the lens), but I wasn't sure that it would be any brighter since some of the LED's would be covered up by the lens housing, anyways.

Note: My boat uses the "non-glare" type lens housing - it's the ones with about a 1/2" band of clear lens going around.

Thanx Dennis. I'll check out this site for sure. I will be going to the boat in a few days and I'll take a closer look at what is actually in my anchor light before ordering.

Just an FYI- The current draws are listed at superbright under- more- info on the bottom.

Also, your bayonette base bulb is (probably?) a 15mm. I ordered the wrong ones once... and these

The BA15 is too large to really fit in the ATwood flush mount fixtures but they will work if you let them hang.

These on the other hand are great replacements for the Fuse type/tube type bulbs.

I got the HP-6 and it's just as bright as the 10W bulb it replaced...cool white is nice and bright...a little blue..kinda sterile looking but thats what I like.

And these are great replacements for interior lights

These are a little less bright than the bulbs they replace but good enough and they fit into the fixtures.

There was another post recently on LED nav/anchor lights.
Proceed with caution when replacing- not "any" LED will do. There is a USCG requirement of 2 nm visiblity, and inexpensive retrofit LED's will probably not meet that requirement.
