LED light bulbs

As I recall, the flat ones are 2.2 watts. Maybe Todd can help me out here, but lumens are what you need to compare when comparing brightness of incandescent vs LED (and vs Fluorescent for that matter), and various bulb's lumen output is hard to find sometimes (we are all programmed to think "watts" in relation to brightness of incandescent lights - "Honey do we have any more 60 watt bulbs?"). I originally thought that a 1 to 10 ratio of LED vs incandescent watts would work, but the 1 watt tower LEDs were dimmer that the 10 watt halogen G4 bulbs and didn't work on my 340 (too dim). The 2.2 watt flat ones (http://www.ebay.com/itm/20pcs-G4-9-S...:WNARL:US:1123) were a great replacement, however. Our 410's cabin lights draw almost 20 amps (twice as many lights), so I just ordered another round of the flat LEDs...

Cool white LEDs are too "bluish" for me....

WOW!!!! Interesting...... Now what????

For ME, it makes me want to spend a little more on the LEDs offered by marinebeam.com. But again, I'm not educated enough in LED technology to verify whether that test video is legit and truly something that we boat owners should be aware of.

I do notice that the cheaper LEDs on eBay do NOT have many components on the back of the lamp, so does that make it the "resistive" type of LED that the video referenced? And do we really have periods of time on our boats where we might reach higher than 12v?

If what happened in that video is even remotely possible, then I'll spend a few extra bucks and get the LEDs I can trust. I did (just earlier today) order a couple of those cheap LEDs off eBay to test how they look and whether they'd fit. I think I'll also order a few of the same from marinebeam and try to spot any differences.

Are you sure the round flat ones will fit in the 6 small reading lights through out the cabin Carter?? BTW, my uncle is a 41 yr. retired Delta Maint. Manager that lives in Fayetteville. :)

Lance - they fit in the reading lights on my 340 -They have the two pins on the back, not the side...

I'll take a picture of them next time I am on her. We have about two more trips to transfer items to the new 410 and get the 340 ready for sale...

Was your uncle in Line or Hanger Maintenance?

Carter, He was both and helped Boeing write the manuals on the first Delta 757, Steve Waldrop, Jr. Thanks for the info buddy.

I wish I was half as good as he was, he's 83 now, could fix everything not just most things. He was the reason I got into aviation back in 82 starting in the U.S.A.F., just a real good dude!!

Jon. I get almost all of mine from Marine beam. They do have the constant current in all of their products. High quality LED with good warranty and return policy. I have noticed they are about half of what I paid for them 4 years ago. the MR11 is what I use for the reading lights. These slip into. G4 back pin base.

So the MR11 will fit in the tiny reading light?? Looks a little large to me . 1 3/8 inch???

they fit perfectly on my 1998 fixtures. They have a 30 day return policy if they do not work for you. When I bought mine they were about $25 each.

In response to the galley light (original E14) LED replacement I utilized a compact base mount adapter which converted the E14 to the more readily available E12 base. It was an ebay search item.

I am impressed. Ryan might be a fellow lighting designer. Also know that there are steps you can go with the Color Correction, Full CTO, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2. Full CTO will take daylight cool white 5600 down to warm white 3200 K. The others will get you in between . I hate cool white LED's on the boat or around the house. Too stark and unnatural after years of incandescent lighting.

I have changed all of my Halogens in my boat to warm LED.

Not a lighting designer, but I know lighting ;). I own a video/TV production company and own tons of broadcast lighting gear.

I agree the daylight bulbs are a little too stark in the boat. They work in the engine compartment without too much distraction.

i'm looking for a LED bulb for my anchor light. 2002 Sea Ray 340. Does anyone have any experience or found the LED bulb that can replace the standard lightbulb?

Thanks.

Re: Adding a pair of wolverine engine heaters and 110 lights in the bilge

Single bulb, feston. All the LEDs i can find have pointed ends and the bulb in there now is a long rectangular with flat ends.
