I know there have been a ton of threads on LED replacement lights. I've been to the websites suggested for lights however when looking at the lights there are no model numbers that match our models. I've bought MR 11's and MR 16's and found that the 11's are just too small and the 16's are too long (in the post portion of the light). We've also been to boat shows with one of our lights to try to match and so far haven't found and LED to match.

For those that have 2006 Dancers how did you replace the actual lighting? There also seems to be about 5 different styles of lights in ours. Thanks, Brenda

Brenda, If you go to superbrightleds.com you can search throughout this website. I thought the same thing at first, impossible, but on that website, they will give you actual diagrams that have the specific measurements for each bulb. I personally have NOT ordered any of them, but after reviewing the site, it looked pretty straight forward to me. I just went on the site and looked at a couple of bulbs. When you do select a particular bulb, click on the "more info" button / tab and then scroll down a little to see the actual measurements of that bulb you selected.

Good luck with your search, and that is one sweet looking 44:thumbsup:

+1 to Superbrightleds, Brenda. Except I did buy from them. Changed all my interior lights for 10xLED units- the ammeter doesn't move when I turn them all on!

What is the part number/amp rating for the halogen bulb you are replacing?

I have replaced anchor lights with:

Cockpit light with blue LEDs:

Closet fixtures with:

Still testing for salon and heads and reading lights: You need G4 size. I have these two sources below but have not tried them yet. Others I ordered were too "cool white" even though I ordered warm white. The trick is to find them bright enough (110+ lumen), short enough (35mm or less) and warm white enough. If these work I will confirm.

Good luck!

OK. Seems like the salon bulbs on the 44DA are similar to mine. I used
G4B-WWHP10-DAC to replace my G4s. I found that the the batch I received actually had two distinct hues to the warm white. I selected the hues for each compartment so there were no orphans. The light was slightly brighter and had a better spread.

Sum Escape, doe these cockpit bulbs simply plug into existing sockets? Do you know of anything similar that allows you to cycle through multiple colors so you can select between white light and blue?

copb8tx,
Yes, they plug right in. This particular one does not. Try a search for BA15D LED bulbs and dig around a bit. I am guessing you will find some. Make sure they are not much longer than these though as the fixture is not very deep. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I've been looking at all your sights. It seems there are about 5 different types of bulbs in the boat itself, cockpit, engine compartment, salon, berths and various other areas. Thanks for your input. I'm sure I'll be picking up some shortly.

Does you boat have the spot light reading lights with the wedge type bulbs? Trying to figure those lights out on mine as LED's.

Thanks for the info Sum, do you know what the color temp, and the lumen output on the stock G4 cabin lights is?

I bought all LED lights from Ebay, much cheaper than every online site I checked out. Almost every option for purchase on Ebay is shipping from Japan or China so delivery time is about 2 weeks. Brighter light at the fraction of the power.

What did you end up with for cabin lights and what did you mean" fraction of the power"? Someones making a lot of money, if the chinese are selling these for a buck apeice

re: faction of the power..

Im going on memory as I bought 1 LED light and measured before buying more to see if there was indeed a change. A standard bulb was using 11w approx, the LED lights were using 1w each.
Each bulb on ebay is about $5-$10 depending.
I had 3 different types of bulbs, #1156 being the most common.

So figure with my wife and kids (cause i would NEVER do this) leaving every light on... always.. about 12 lights at 11w each (( 132w versus 12w ))

OH YES...
Since these are LED 'D' being the important part (diode), a diode only works if poliarity is correct, a normal light bulb usually does not care. I noticed a couple of sockets on my boat were backwards, I had to swap the wires to make the LED light turn on.

An 1156 refers to the base of the bulb and doesn't have much to do with the bulbs output. I'm looking for a cheap LED, with a G4 base, that most resembles the output of my stock cabin lights.

Lumen output of a stock G4 LED is an MR 11 which is between 200 and 400 lumens and a halogen G4 is between 400 and 800 lumens. The LED G4 varies upon manufacturers, how many LED's, what current etc., but the standard is as I stated.

Thanks for the links to the cockpit LED lights Sum Escape! So they do just plug in, or were you saying "these don't", referring to the LED's that you put in your cockpit? thanks, Jason

The ones you could have an issue with are the ones with the 1156 base, all LED lights are polarity sensitive, and there is no way to reverse these. My cabin and bow lights are wired opposite as an automotive bulb, in that the base of the bulb is the positive contact.

Jason,
They just plug in. You may have to try them both ways as the polarity does need to be correct, but because the BA15D base has "tabs" that are equally spaced you only need to turn the bulb around if it doesn't light.
Let me know if you find some G4's for the salon that work well for you....I'm still searching. Thanks

Not strictly true. The G4 base LED assemblies I used are polarity insensitive. They sort out which is which on the circuit board. A LED is obviously polarity sensitive by its very nature (otherwise it wouldn't be a diode) but quite often, if a LED can be connected directly to 12V, it has some additional circuitry to provide current limiting and might well have polarity correction.

Polarity isn't even an issue if the bulb base lets you install it in either direction. My comment was about the 1156 base which can only be installed 1 way, where polarity is an issue, with some bulbs.
