LED Cockpit Bulbs (I know, GROAN!)

I just replaced all the lights on the boat with LEDs today including the nav lights. Went with the blue festoons for cockpit floor lights and two Lumitec Mirage 113118s for the arch. Like what searay495 said, what a big difference these lights make and look great. Found the Lumitec's on Amazon for only 36.00 each, think it was an error because the next day they were back at 80.00 each but the seller honored it.

Glad the white is dimmable because it is really bright

Are the red and blue lights dimmable? How bright are they?
They are not dimmable, They were not as bright as the white but give off good light. I had all the lights on in the warehouse so I'm sure they look much better at night.

Yeah, that's what I bought. I didn't know whether they'd come out with dimmable 3 color. Was just curious. I would've like to have been able to add red to the white and blue.

When I was looking at them a couple months ago they had four color dimmable lights....I can't find them now.

OK, so I'm a bit confused....can some one provide a clear, side by side differentiation between Lumitec Mirage" and "Shadow"?

Mirage has the spring clamps to hold it in place. The Shadow is mounted with screws and Shadow is also compatible with 3rd party controllers including dimmers, flashers, and scene controllers.

Just ordered two Mirage's today for the arch - white, blue, red. Hopefully they'll brighten up that area when needed, and I know my kids will get a kick out of the blue and red.

Ok, all 8 lights are IN!

EASY job. The hardtop lights already had watertight spade connectors. I simply sat down and put the female ends on the 4 lights for the overhead, unscrewed the old lights, plugged in the new and snapped them back into the hole. PERFECT fit and the new lights have a much more modern quality look.

The 4 lights around the cockpit didn't have spade connectors for some reason. There I just cut them off and installed the male ends. A little awkward as there wasn't much extra wire but not bad when considering how most boat projects go. BTW, I learned (the hard way) that LED lights have to be plugged in the right way or they don't work AND that you can't assume the black wire from you boat always mates up with the black wire from the light fixture. They don't, and you'll find that out while working with the absolute most inaccessible light. :smt021

Looks GREAT Bart!

Bart what model did you get ? lumitec mirage? im looking for white and blue. dont really care about the red. but if its included its a bonus. how does the dimming work with the stock soft touch buttons? thanks everyone

Bart - lights look great. Hard to tell from pic but is there a lot of glare from the ones mounted down low? Are they too bright to look at?

Mirage 113111. Dimming works with standard switches. When turned on they start from dim and go brighter. At any point that you want to stop and hold the brightness you simply quick-toggle the switch off and on and it'll stay at that setting. I'd say definitely get a model that dims because bright is bright.

Unfortunately we started flooding just after this install and I've not spent any time on the water to have any practical experience. However since the lower lights are independent to the hardtop lights I can dim them to a different brightness, which can be quite low. I don't foresee any issues.

But maybe when I get the use the boat by Labor Day I can give you more info. :smt013

I took out my Aperion Tri-Lights that I put in last year at $105 a pop and installed 5 of the dimming on white Lumatec Mirage's and couldn't be happier!

Looks good John! Those old PERKOs just look so out of date IMO. An expensive upgrade sure, but i recommend it to everyone and they usually thank me when they see the difference.
