I'm in the same "boat" as you. (I wish...) I work from home full time now. I connect to my work network drives via a VPN. It's seamless.
same here. I backup everything to my personal drive at work.

If you are using vpn back to your office you should be able to save files to your office network. Keep in mind if they are work files you may need to share them with co-workers. If you back up else where you will have duplicate files of varying versions that need to be emailed around. So if your vpn is a tunnel back to your office all you have to do is map a network drive. If its just for security then you can look at something like box.net (professional services) where you can grant access to co-workers and work collaboratively.I use VPN now.... I am going to see what my IT guy can do... I just hate asking him for help at home when he is at work all day... I thought there would be an easy solution I could do myself without going to big tech cloud
If your VPN goes to a central office location where there are servers etc., it should be a pretty basic thing for your IT guy. I understand what you mean though. I hate bugging IT unnecessarily. They would just need to map a drive location for you that you can use the same as your "C" drive locally.I use VPN now.... I am going to see what my IT guy can do... I've worked at home for 25 years.
Mine backs up to the cloud and to a external hard drive each day. As for screens I have been using a 42 inch for years. I can split the screen into three so it makes it really sweet when working on files or on endless zoom calls and you still want to be on club sea ray at the same time.
I have a great IT guy that comes to my home office a couple times a tear to update everything.
I'm up to 10 screens now, it's like being in air traffic control
When I try to work from the boat galley, I can hardly function on 2
Doesn't look good for the home team.
That was so 3 years ago….. I have no idea where that tv went…. Or that laptop …. I do almost everything these days on my phone or iPad …. New laptop stays at work and backups to the networkIve been using a 45" for about five years and love it . I have a external drive connected to my system that backs up everyday at 5pm. My phone , ipods, laptop, ipad back up to it.
I keep a laptop and Ipad on the boat that never goes home all I take is this drive. My laptop also backs up to the Icloud each day as well.
Now that your using a 45" get yourself a wireless keyboard and mouse and you can just keep your laptop shut.
