Lake Wylie Aquapolooza

Got this today by email:

Wylie Marina
Aqua Palooza 2008 Event Schedule
ü Registration begins at 9:00 am in the Lake Wylie Marina showroom. You will be given the t-shirts you registered for at this time as well as a map to the event site. Remember you must have registered by July 1st for t-shirts. You may come by land or water. The event will be held at the Charlotte Power Squadron's " Merit Ma rk Point ". It is about a 15 minute ride south of Lake Wylie Marina. There is plenty of room for boats to raft up or beach in their cove. Their facility has restrooms as well as a covered area with tables that will sit at least 60 people. Registration will end at 2:00 pm.
ü You should make plans to be on site by 12-12:30. The Carolina Ski Show Team will perform from 1:00 to 2:00. This is something you will not want to miss. They have a great performance that show cases tricks, jumps, pyramids as well as wake boarding and bare foot skiing. You will be asked to remain outside of Merit Mark Point 's cove during their performance.
ü The Oneppo Brothers Band will be playing from 2:00 till 5:00. They play classic rock that I am sure we all will enjoy.
ü The Charlotte Power Squadron will be grilling chicken quarters for us to eat. We should begin serving around 2:00. There are docks available for you to use, but me must restrict you to tying up for no more than 5 or 10 minutes. Use them if needed to go ashore for food or the restrooms. We will have our own shuttle boats available to bring you food or to take you to and from shore. These boats will be small Boston Whaler s and will have blue Sea Ray flags on them.
ü We will also have a raffle for prizes that will take place through out the afternoon.
ü We will also be providing demonstration rides on a Sea Ray 330 Sundancer with the revolutionary Axius sterndrive propulsion system. Axius is controlled via a joystick and makes docking maneuvers so easy a twelve year old can do it.
ü The festivities should end around 5:00.

Please call or email me if you have any questions.

Seems like they stepped it up a notch this year.

Looking forward to it.

Casey

I could not get that worked out Paul but we are looking forward to the event. Only two more weekends!!! Just get someone to cover for you

Sounds like it should be a good day by looking at the forwarded email. We bought from Larry at Halls this yr and used to live in ft mill. So, would love to come to Lake Wylie for our first Aqua, but unfortunately have to work! We are planning on the Chas one. Anyone know who is in charge of that one(know its Hall Marine still) and if they plan on "stepping it up" also from what I heard last yr was?

If you had checked the weather on Monday for Lake Wylie it had thunderstorms set for all day Saturday. On Friday that changed to sunshine and 90 degrees. They were right it turned out to be a beautiful day. Hall Marine put on a great show. The day started with us going over to Lake Wylie Marina to sign in and get the free stuff, t-shirts, Koozies, cups, frisbees, etc. Paige was not able to make it due to feeling under the weather but I had invited her sister and my brother-in-law to come on the trip. He had only been wakeboarding with us one time so he wanted to go try that again. He gets up first try and is riding good. About the third try takes a nasty spill so says he is done. We decide to go ahead and head to the cove where everyone is going to be. As we come out of our cove I see Dave S just zooming right past us so I head out to his wake and follow him in. He sets his anchor and then ask if I would like to tie up to his beautiful boat. Note to self, next time Paige and I are on the water I need to practice my reverse operating skills, after a couple of attempts to get the boat just right Dave says Wes I think you do better going forward then backwards go around the boat and hand me the lines and we will get you squared away. So around the boat I go (now driving in forward) and Dave gets me squared away. We tie up, eat some lunch, float around, watch the ski team show which was pretty good and look at some great looking Sea Rays. Had a great time talking to Dave and friends. They then tell us it is time to pull achor and head to the other cove where they will be serving food and have a band performing. We pull anchor and run into Casey344 and islandhopper00 from the board and get to say a quick hello to them. Kept looking for SeaRay Paul to come around the corner after finding someone to cover for him at work but did not get to meet him this time. We drive into the cove and my sister-in-law looks at me as we start to anchor and says can we go for a boat ride. We turn around and start putting away the fenders and head out for a great boat ride on the lake. Hall Marine put on a great show this year, each year seems to get better and better, can't wait to do it again next year. Below are a couple of pictures from the event.

Looks like fun, thanks for posting the pictures.

Glad ya'll had a good weather and a great time. I kept waiting yesterday for my relief to walk in so that I could join ya'll. Maybe if I had a boat that shinned like ya'lls I could have gotten off. Good pictures, maybe a calender shot there.

Thanks so much for the pictures. My wife, daughter, and myself are going to have to do this next year. We keep talking about it, but something always comes up. We would pull the boat from Lake Lure over there and launch it for the day. It would be a pleasure to have my boat next to your guys. You can tell by the pictures your boats are taken care of. They look just awsome!!!! Now I need to get my buffer back out.

Again, thanks for the pictures!!

I see Wesley got some great in-water pictures of our boats although it made us a bit nervous to see him floating around in the water trying to keep his camera dry. Thanks for taking those pictures Wesley.

Our dealer did a fantastic job this year at organizing this event. As Wes mentioned we were entertained by the Carolina Ski team which did a fantastic job. We also had a live band playing for us afterward and they were great as well. Then our dealer was kind enough to ferry out food to our boats that was cooked up by the Charlotte Power Squadron. We had Chicken and Burgers along with all the other fixings. The weather was perfect and it was great to visit with everyone as well.

Just found out I won a prize at the event as well if any of you did not see this thought I would post as well. :smt038

AquaPalooza 2008 Raffle Results
And Thank You
I would like to thank all of you who attended Lake Wylie Marina's AquaPalooza this past Saturday. This turned out to be our biggest and most successful event yet. It is going to make my job even harder next year to try to top this year's event. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for next year's event.

I would especially like to thank the members of the Charlotte Power Squadron for hosting the event and for the great grilled chicken they served. Please remember this is an organization of volunteers who promote and educate safe boating practices. They offer at least four or five safe boating classes a year and hold the classes in our showroom at Lake Wylie Marina. You can also join the Squadron for less than $100 a year and have access to " Merit Mark Point " as well. What a wonderful facility to go and spend an afternoon with friends, family and your boat.

Thanks to the Carolina Show Ski Team as well. I hope you all enjoyed their show as much as I did. They perform a show every Friday evening in the summer at Wind Jammer Park in Tega Cay. Please try to make one of their performances before the summer is over. They will also be hosting a "Learn to Ski Day" this Saturday July 26th.
You may contact them at Carolina_ski@yahoo.com for more information.

And finally, thanks to The Oneppo Brothers band. I wish I would have had more time to enjoy their music. That was just good boat, chicken, and ski show music.

Congratulations to the following raffle prize winners. I will send them certificates by mail in the next week or so.
1. Josh Pendleton-100hr. engine service 6. Ed Smurlo-Engine Winterization

I'm with Dave on this one!!!!

Congrats Wes. Now you have to use it. LOL

Does your boat slow down enough to dock it at the Power squadron docks?

Paul, we sure missed ya there. Next time. Heck next time I'll be on Lake Norman, I'll have to trailer down.

Mike,

I thought the same thing when I saw it, uh oh what does membership mean exactly. Kinda like when Jim said hey I am going to let you moderate the CSR board and I am going to let you do it for free. Do you know what membership means Mike?

Wesley

By the way. I thought I'd post one final picture of a sunset on Lake Wylie. We took this as we were heading back to the Marina at the end of a very full day on the water after the Aquapalooza event.
