It will be interesting to see the Friday report of The Corps of Engineers for Lake Michigan water levels. This pic was taken today (10/3/19) and the top step of our dock ladder is several inches below the water. That is the first time the water has been this high in 2019. We may be close to the Fall 1986 levels but I remember them being much higher, so probably not.

Water levels were fluctuating 6 in Michigan City earlier today. Get on the boat by stepping down and vice versa a few hours later. Didn't grab a pic of it low... other pic is from a week ago.

Water levels here have been slowly falling. It is very noticeable on the pilings and walls. Down a little over 6" in August. Forecast to loose another 5" by end of October.

Interesting article from 10 years ago, Kind of thought I just read one not long ago about climate change being responsible for too much water.

As they say, never let a good crisis go to waste, spin it which ever way you need to.

Oh God, Yes! I'm sure an article written by a know nothing 20something, that was in middle school when the levels were low will write a doomsday article about how "climate change" is flooding the Great lakes...

Over at Grand Isle the water was higher last night than anything we had this Spring. A dock neighbor was out loosening all of our lines. We're going to finish this boating season just like we started - flooded parking lots and rubber boots.

IMG_4230.JPG According to today's report, the Lake Michigan average water level for the week ending today is 2" higher than the average level for September 4, 2019. The good news is we are 7" lower than this week in 1986. Had we been at that level, water would by lapping the bottom of our dock's deck.

IMG_4230.JPG Lake Michigan has gone up 2" in the past 30 days. Enough already! We were at a local marina today and there is a foot of water in the parking lot and the boats look like they floating above the surrounding land.

If only AOC wasn't a bartender for so long and didn't wait to implement the Green New Deal we wouldn't be in this mess :)

We're getting plenty of rain up here. Drove by a public boat ramp on the WI river, the parking lot was partially flooded just like in the spring. The woods is loving it though, seems extra lush and green. The vernal ponds are full, frogs are croaking, mosquitos too.

We are at our cottage on Georgian Bay for Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Temp yesterday was 68. Today is 50 and windy. Looks like maybe 25 knots and its supposed to increase to 30 over the day. The wood stove is on and having a late AM coffee watching 6ft waves pound the beach (watching from inside). Water levels seem about the same as a month ago, but hard to tell on a day with surf. We didn’t seem to lose any more beach so that is good. Will head to the marina later to check on the boat. She’s on the hard, winterized and shrink wrapped. So not much to do other than take a few things off her for the winter. It will be a long time till April.
