I just purchased a 1998 Sea. Ray bowrider 180 and I'm just trying to figure out if this yellow goo is okay in the kill switch? Or is it the reason my engine don't shut off when I push it down?

Hey there, saw you were online. I'm re-ripping all my CD's and am going through CSR threads. First
Welcome! Great boat you have. Sometimes with the 290 I think I've bit off more than I can chew at my age but what the heck she was inexpensive.

So that is probably dielectric grease from the factory. It's hard to see in the photo, use some electric contact cleaner available at any auto store, walmart, target, you get it. Once you get the goop cleaned out try the switch again, if it works, get a new one to have with you on the boat / the old one could fail in the no-run position and that's no fun for anyone/ then put some fresh dielectric grease / available from all the above/ back in and you should be good to go.

Thank you it did not work I'm getting a new one in the mail.
Good deal. Let us know where you boat in your profile if you like. It's always nice to see what part of the county everyone is in. Picture of the wee one was also great. I have 5 adult kids and 3 grand kids. Enjoy the boat!
