The KEC DVD-2 player on my 340 Sundancer has sadly expired. I wondered if anyone has replaced one of these and if so with what? I understand that they no longer make this player. It linked to both the main TV and the smaller TV in the aft.
Many thanks for any help

Those KEC DVD players are junk and fail frequently. I have seen a couple replacements out there but they are close to just as expensive as replacing the TV with a TV/DVD Combo which is probably what I will do. Unfortunately since yours is feeding 2 TVs, that may not work unless you replace both TVs. Sometimes these pop up on ebay but it will probably fail again before too long.

Hi Ian, hope you and yours are doing okay, still enjoying the PlasDECK too I hope. We had the same issue and replaced ours in the midberth recently. Our son bought it as a gift and although he gave me a receipt (just in case) I can't find it at the moiment, but will keep looking. Have asked him to send me the info and as soon as he does will forward it to you. Don't think it was too bad in price and it's better than the one we had.

Cheers!

Brenda

I would check out the Fusion 700 series. They have an AV unit that plays DVDs and one that accepts iPods. The best thing is you can get an app the will turn your phone or iPad into a remote.

I had one fail a couple of years ago. I measured the unit then surfed Amazon until I found one that fit. This one currently for sale looks like it may be the same or a successor unit: http://www.amazon.com/Coby-DVD-224-...f=sr_1_10?s=tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1370291114&sr=1-10. I can record and report the precise model if you want next time I'm aboard but I would guess it's probably not around anymore.

You can see more by searching Amazon for "DVD Player" then selecting "Compact" in the checkbox to the left. There are currently 114 choices although most look too big. In the smaller units there's more variety and advanced features than I remember but the price is still generally around $20-$30 so I don't feel bad about potential long-term unreliability.

Hi Brenda, We are all well and happy - hope you guys are as well. Boating season has just started and the lake is well above pool which has made for some new interesting issues we have not seen before. Had to reverse out from under one of the bridges last weekend because the water was so high and I had not dropped the antenna. That was a first for me and I was pleased I had my daughter keeping a look out. PlasDECK is great and makes the boat look awesome. I also get lots of great comments about it on the dock.

Update: I went with the Sound Storm SD160UA (In dash) DVD Player. Purchased it from eBay for $60.50. The existing connections from the KEC DVD-2 fit perfectly except for the power supply which required changing the plug.
The new player works with both the main TV and also the small TV in the aft. I did not have to change the cut out - just slipped the new one in.
