Those of you from the SRO board might remember me as DreamCatcher with a 410 Sundancer. I am glad to have found where the action is. I was getting pretty bored watching single threads on Boat/US and BoaterEd boards.

The new user name Sea Gull reflects the actual boat name for the past 4 years, but the big news is that Sea Gull II is being delivered tomorrow. She is a 58 Sedan Bridge with 900 hp MANs and lots of bells and whistles. We shopped for a long time for a 52DB, but the 58 was a 2006 leftover and the deal was too good to pass up.

Looking forward to our new home on ClubSeaRay.com!!!

You ain't a kiddin' !

Unfortunately not many people here know that MAN was the first company that licensed the diesel engine from Rudolf Diesel the inventor and began to build it commercially. Also not many people know that MAN is probably the number one marine disel engine builder worldwide, together with MTU (also a German company). The diesels in the pleasure boats are actually not out of their marine line, they are marinized truck engines.
MAN's real marine engine are 10,000 to 100,000+ kw (not hp!) marine engines for commercial vessels. BTW Frank Webster, they're all two stroke diesels (ME and MC series)!

It is too bad there are not more MAN engines and service centers here yet, because I truly believe they are absolutely great engines from a power, reliability and servicability perspective.

Welcome Sea Gull...Glad to hear that the 58 purchase went well...Don't know if you had a chance to catch up on your reading here at CSR yet, but I almost bought your 2003 410DA....I not done yet.....but I need to trade in my 380DA....

Welcome again,

!

Congrats on the 580, beautiful boat and quite a step up from the 410- Your going to love it! But I'm partial to the 580 after my wife and I got married standing on the swim platform of a 580 in Naples.

Welcome Jeff.

We are trying to pick up where we left off in the SRO.

Are you still at Brewers with the new boat?
Mark

Welcome back to the group.

Thanks for all the great comments and welcomes. We brought the boat back to our home marina – Yes Mark we are still at Brewers, hoping to have a permanent slip next season. No good pictures yet. It was blowing about 20-25 knots on Saturday while we were learning to maneuver the boat around the dock. That, coupled with the 2 knots of current in the Housatonic (CT) river, was quite a challenge. We made five successful landings without dinging the gelcoat, but seeing the starboard side of the boat from the helm is impossible.

Osd9, I wrote you a note in another thread. You were talking about a 2000 boat, so I did not know you looked at mine. I am surprised that MM won’t take your trade.
