Well today it opens and after work I'll be heading out for the weekend and attempting to get my share of Dungeness crab. Here's a shot of last years catch. I can't wait. Good luck.

Good luck we're going to drop pots Thursday thru Saturday next week and fish for kings and pinks near Anderson Island the last month indians have 1000's of pots out from Des Moines to Pt Defiance hope there's some left. Seen a lot of pinks caught in past couple weeks area 11 just a few kings about 15 lbs.

Your crab looks just like a red X :) Even though your crabs are bigger I bet my blue claws can still kick their butt! Have fun and good luck! Brian

Nothing better than fresh Pacific Crab! We had a great season this year...

If you haven't had fresh Dungeness, you haven't lived. I haven't had Blue crabs, but I'll take that challenge. These are real man size claws that can take your fingers off. Not the little ornate Blue crab claws. :)

Oh a Blue Crab can take a nice chunk of finger every now and then!

I'm surprised your season is for less than two weeks? I can throw out two crab pots from April to the end of the year and have Blue Crab whenever I want 'em... :smt001

Well it actually the season is:
Open at 7:00 a.m. July 1, 2011. Will be open Thursday through Monday only through September 5, 2011. Any additional opening dates will be announced in October
There is usually a winter season too, but that is what is determined in Oct.

Dungeness are good, if you want Crab Claws then you want Stone Crab Claws! They catch the Crab in Florida in a very short season... pull of one Claw and throw the Crab back. It regenerates and they are By Far the Tastiest, I like them better than Lobster.... YUM!!!

My brother's beat me out there. He's caught his limit (5) with his son already today. 10 Crabs aboard.

Any crab is good crab! But boating in Maryland blue crabs prevail. I totally agree that the stone crab claws are awesome. When I was a kid my father would take us to Urie's deck in Wildwood,NJon our 22' cuddy cabin (not a Sea Ray!) and he would order Stone crab claws and we would eat them out on the deck and since it was right across from the Rio Grande marina I would dream of owning a boat someday!

Nice catch! (Any dry ice around there?)

Dry ice? Sure.

We ended up catching 8 good sized crabs total. For my wife and the 9 yo twins it was plenty. We ate 1/2 of them on Sunday night and all but 1 1/2 crab last night. It so good when it's fresh.
We'll head back out this week, maybe Thursday night to get some more.

Nice! Like the shirt too... :smt001

This weekend we knocked 'em dead. We had 11 people out with us on 3 boats and we limited.
That's 55 really nice sized crab.
