Job offer, "chasing" money, career changes and the like

I ended up not accepting the job in the original post. I did except one a few months later that overall has turned out good. My previous employer did not backfill my position and they went through a big layoff shortly after I left, oh and they were also bought out. My intuition and gut about my future there was right. I gave up a few things, got a few things, overall it was a good move.

And I learned last week my company has been sold...I think this is 4 times now in my career, none of them have worked out well for me. I have been informed no more bonuses with the new company, and my compensation will be adjusted to align with theirs.

We will be going from 75 employees to 2700.
That doesn't sound good....

'Sounds like my place. The latest owner is a world-wide conglomerate that is attempting to apply their ideas on how to run a shop (mine) who's operation has never been in their playbook, but they're going to run it their way, 'cuz they know better. Based on what I've witnessed since that took place, I don't believe it'll last past the end of the year. I could retire tomorrow, but it's the other poor saps that I feel for.

I've been pondering a lot about job offers, career changes, and the constant chase for money lately. It's a topic that's on many of our minds, I'm sure.

In the midst of it all, I discovered an interesting way to relieve some stress and potentially earn some extra cash – playing games to win money! It's a cool and unconventional approach to supplementing your income.
Maybe try prostitution?

As for work-life balance, stress, and anxiety, it's important to think about how these factors might change with the new gig. It's awesome that you have flexibility and a great manager where you are now. But if the financials and pipeline at your current job don't look promising, it might be worth considering a change. Look into side income ideas. Dealing with a recent promotion and HR's response to your request for more money can definitely be frustrating. It's important to feel valued and fairly compensated for your work. Ultimately, only you can make the decision that feels right for you. It might be helpful to weigh the pros and cons, considering your financial stability, job satisfaction, and future goals. Good luck with your decision-making process.

Look at post 172 above. New user, boatless profile, and replies to a thread that was dormant since late October. Sure sign of bot activity. Happens a lot here lately.
