I have decided to get me one of those 12 volt Jabsco Quick Oil Changers.
I am finding two models available.

Which one do you recommend and why?

Jabsco 17800-2000 Marine Porta Quick Oil Changer with Flexible Impeller Pump (3.5-Gallon, 12-Volt, Non CE) $178.40 at Amazon

Jabsco 17850-1012 Premium Marine Oil Changer $119.20 at Amazon

Both say they are 3 ½ gallons.

links?

They will both get the job done. The 2000 model is a little more robust, tougher hoses, bigger pump. We have them in stock for less than Amazon in case you are open to other retailers.

The older design , the 17800-2000 is very flexible since its got threaded fittings on the pump, the impeller is easily replaced by removing the face plate and parts are sold almost everywhere.

The flexibility is important because you may have more than one access to the oil in your engine.......hose fitting made into the OEM dipstick, a drain hose on the pan, etc or you may want to service other things like transmissions. You will find that any pump is really slow pumping oil out of an engine if you use the 1/4" draw tube shoved down the dip stick.......you will engineer your way around that after you use the pump one time, so its best to have flexibility.

Anything that is easily user serviced is a good thing, and if you lose an impeller on the original pump, it takes 2 minutes to change out impellers.

I suspect the other pump is a newer design and appears to have just barb fittings, which will eventually leak. From the photos I'm not sure the pump is serviceable.

Presentation, we do have filters, oil, etc. We have pretty much everything that can go on a boat. Getting them on the site is a different story. I could just do a data feed to the site like some sites do, ******* for example, but then its too easy to lose control over customer service since customers have no idea about inventory or if a product is even available anymore. So when it comes to boat parts we pretty much just have things on the site that are physically in our store. However, if you have a list of things you need I will be happy to stock them as you are probably not the only person that needs them.

I bought the Jabsco 17800-2000 when I bought this boat, I don't quite remember my reasoning back then. I can pump both engines into the container and I have had no problems with it. I ordered an impeller kit this year because I have never done anything to it so I wanted to be prepared. I changed my oil yesterday and it still works like new.

Hey Jim,

This is most likely a user error (me.) I just don’t know what I am doing wrong.

I am going thru my list of winterizing stuff to buy + the above pump.

I am getting “Sorry - No products found for the specified criteria”

Again, its most likely me not your site. I just don’t know what I am doing wrong.

Here is what I tried:

17800-2000 Jabsco Marine Porta Quick Oil Changer – this is the only item I was able to find. Cost at your site is $154.22. Cool! The Amazon cost does include shipping. I do not know if you include the cost of shipping, if you do that is a very good price.

Every other part I need I was not able to find.

I’ll try to break them into logical catagories:

Drive fluid service

830749 O-Ring Seal for Gear Lube Drain Screws – new yellow stronger style – should be about 2.60/each, I need 4. I am looking to try these new things for the first time this year. As a back up incase they do not fit I’m still ordering the cheap blue ones below.

191833 – O-Ring Seal for Gear Lube Drain Screws – old blue style that can break – should be about $ .80/each, I need 4.

858065K01 2.5 gallon jug Mercury Gear Lube High Performance – should be about $88 bucks. I need one.

850730Q1 Mercury Gear Lube Pump for 2.5 Gallon - should be about $17 bucks, I need one.

22-67892A06 spare drive drain plug - should be about $7.60 - I need one.

Impeller change

862232A 2 – Merc impeller kits – should be about $31 bucks, I need three. (one for a spare)

Oil change on 2 5.0L V8’s plus my generator

866340K01 Mercury Oil Filter – should be about $7.20, I need 2

48078 – Westerbeke oil filter – should be about $15 bucks, I need 1.

35-802893T Mercury Mercruiser Water Separating Fuel Filter – should be about 7.33/each. I need 3.

858088K01 MerCruiser Full Synthetic Oil 858088K01 Gallon - should be $29.07/gallon. I need 3.

858087K01 MerCruiser Full Synthetic Oil 858087K01 $8.70/quart. I need 2.

Just need to resupply my onboard spare parts

807252T 2 Merc THERMOSTAT-160 should be about $23 bucks – I need one

806871 GASKET Thermostat Housing should be about $5 bucks. I need one.

53045 1 GASKET Lower Thermostat Housing should be about $3.10. I need one.

Jim, if this is not good business for you, not stuff you have sitting in inventory please do not hesitate to speak up. One of the online discount price Mercury parts suppliers is in Oshkosh so I can just stop by and pick the Mercury stuff up. The non Merc stuff like the pump and the Westerbeke filter are different stories, M***** only sells Merc stuff. Their cost is normally a little lower than the costs I get off the Merc site, the costs I am listing for the parts above.
