Is there not any 500 sundancer owners on here

Thats great, now we have to do if you are going to show us how ..cheers Marc ! We keep our boat in Ft Pierce fl....they gave a place called marine connection I will look for a steering wheel.

Curious to those with Detroit’s who have replaced their Tachs? Mine or wonky. I’ve tried the switch fix in back but doesn’t seem to solve the bouncing issue. What have you replaced them with?

Unfortunately it’s not only replacing the tachometers. I renewed all the gauges and I thought the tachometers were simple to change.

In many cases the tachometer is feed by the W output on the alternator. Our alternators on our 6v92 didn’t had that connection. The tachometers in the line of all the gauges I bought were ‘alternator’ gauges so they didn’t work. I could go to the alternator shop and install a W output but then you have to adjust your tachometers to the right puley ratio. The adjustable ratio in my tachometer didn’t match the ratio from the wheels on the 6v92. (The revolution of the ‘big’ flywheel is the rpm. 1 revolution of that big flywheel makes the smaller pulley wheel on your alternator turns 2 or 2 1/4 or … )

The 6v92 has a mechanical output for tachometers. On that output is a small sender installed that produce a pulse output. New tachometers should have a pulse sender input.

On our 500 we also have a glendinning engine synchronizer. The cable from above picture goes to the synchronizer. On the synchronizer is a teleflex sender installed that has 2 wires that go to the tachometer. (On each side of the glendinning is a sender).

But now comes the problem. The old teleflex senders didn’t produce much voltage to operate the new tachometers. I got in touch with lauderdale Speedometers and they knew exactly the problem and advices to replace the teleflex senders for a heywitt sender.

The mechanical cable that comes out of the 6v92 is an 1:2 ratio. The new sender is a 8 pulse sender so adjust your tachometer to 4pulse.

After replacing the senders my tachometers are working great.

I hope this will help you. Good luck

I saw the other refrigerator thread but curious as to watch options fit the 500 sundancer? I’m ok with just a 110v version like what’s in there now.

I need one now to replace my original GE...found anything and 110 is Ok with me

So try to replace my fridge and having a helluva time getting the old one out. It giggles in the space it’s slid into and got it to slide out an inch from rocking back and forth but that’s it. Do I just need to pull harder?

Looking to replace the seals & screens on the portholes... I have the 95 manual (I have a '96 & believe them to be the same), and the manual shows part # 757062 portlight fixed w/retaining ring ss and portlight opening bomar all ss.

I've called pompente (sp) and she couldn't find a cross referencing part number...

Has anyone replaced these seals and screens???

Thanks

Would love to see some pics of my gen 500 that had cockpit AC? Where is the unit and where did it vent?

Any ideas as to why this is happening now...

1996 500DA
Caterpillar 3176's

Only happened just recently after running both engines for 30 min..
Went into bilge next day and found that the one RACOR on only the port engine was below the glass...
2 RACORS per engine and it's only happening just recently...the right RACOR on that side has no noticeable change and is not over filled...
