Is the swim deck counted in overall length? If this is so it seems like the newer 185, 195, etc. may be close or the interior room as my 2001, 18.5', 182 sport. :smt017

Yeah, it's marketing. How many feet longer is a 440DB than a 400DB. In Searay math it is about 1 foot. And the 420 is pretty much exactly the same as the 400.

If it is molded, it should be counted.

Yup Sea Ray says I have a 26' boat and the insurance company says I have a 24' boat.

Yes the boat is 24' and the swim platform is 2' on my '06 240SD

On the 2006/2007 185 without the platform 18'5 with the duck butt (Thanks Stihl) swimplatform 19'8. But the swim platform is not integrated, which is why I think it is still called 185.

Not A Cheap date But really now!

When I look at the measurement drawings of the 460, it clearly shows the Length overall including Swim Platform.

Now when docking and arranging temporary slip rental do I report the 50' or the 46Feet? DUH, the boat maker says 46 feet and even calls it the 460, I don't care if its really 50 ft long I ain't paying for swim platform even if I do have a dingy parked on it!

And even more interesting the Water Line of the 460? SR says its 26ft !

I vote for paying slip fees on water line!

Here's another one for you.
My boat is a 1990 350EC in 1992 Sea Ray called the same boat a 370EC no diference in hull.

I'm surprised that the marina hasn't caught up with you on that one. My marina has the specifications on all makes and models and could care less what the decal on the boat says. They charge by the length overall in the manufacturers specs.

I think in the early 90s they changed the way they measure. The searay dealer told me that my 1989 220DA is about the same as the newer 240. Specs show the 220DA to be 23' 8" which I think includes the swim platform. The 220 I guess means 22" without.

That contradicts what the earlier poster said. His 240 is 26'. So who knows? When I'm renting a slip, it's 22' just like the model number says.

On my '240'SD the overall length is 26' 4".

I tell the marinas 24', and tell my friends it's a 26'.

I did notice the specs on the 260SD and the 270SD. They were also 26' 4" overall.

Our marina pulls out the tape and rounds down to the nearest foot. ie my 240 at 26/4 is charged for 26.

It's confusing sometimes. My first boat was a 98 SR 270 DA and the guy that sold it said it was a 29' (overall lenght). I told him I wanted a 27' not a 29' . He then agreed it was a 27' ... I paid for a 27' at the marina.... :smt001

My second boat was a 1991 SR 310 DA and he exact same boat became a 330 DA in 1992. I paid for a 31' at the marina....

Current boat is a 95 370 DA and came with a swim platform. Marina people came to measure it and said it is a 39'..... :smt001 ...and I have to pay for a 39' :smt009

I thought Searay was consistantly conservative, but with your story about the 92 330DA, sounds like not.
I guess with a Searay, you have to look at the spec.

The dealer told me the 220 became the 240. But the 240 in the past couple of years is 26'

Maybe the older 240s were only 24.

All I know is I always want a bigger boat.
