My Admiral does not like driving the boat at the beach in shallow water and dropping the anchor is not the easiest for her either. Is it possible to install a windlass and a 1995 230 Sundancer. If so where can I find one.

Anything is possible if you throw enough money at it. I personally wouldn't bother with the expense and complexity of installing a windlass on a boat of that size. You would definitely want a professional to do it anyway, so just call your friendly dealer or marina and ask for an estimate. Figure on about $2K to get a basic system.

I installed a Lewmar Profish 700 in our 1985 270DA for around $1,200 - windlass, wiring, breakers, anchor roller, 300ft. anchor rode with 20ft. chain and new anchor.
Like MonacoMike posted, the anchor locker depth may be an issue and is the first thing to check. The windlass I installed requires 12 inches from the deck down to the top of the coiled anchor line to work properly.

Don't forget about the amount of stress on your deck, if the windlass is like mine, the capstan is horizontal to the deck. Mine is mounted on a teak pulpit to spread the stress around. Many of my friends wanted to do this, but were all told that their deck couldn't handle the stress.

Why. I have a 4000 pound jet boat and use a 15 pound anchor. Works well.

Thanks for all the replies I do have a deep locker but I have alot of research to do to find a way to install a roller and a mount for the anchor. Ive seen this done on a similar boat. But the admiral may just say no due to cost and I can save $ for more beer and she may have to live with it. Or I may have to get a bigger boat. lol

Generally speaking the crowd is not wrong. It is a cost prohibitive luxury on a boat your size. It is near that on a boat my size but it was worth it to me. That is what you, and only you can calculate. Good luck, MM
