Is it a 280 or 300/310 ????

I own a 320 with V-Drives and my dock neighbor recently sold a 2004 - 300 w/ twin 6.2's and outdrives - the two boats drive completely different. They let me drive the 300 - it was a more nimble sporty feel - where my 320 feels a lot less sporty. I suggest if looking at that size compare both of them and ask for a sea trial if possible. My dad owns a 290 Amberjack with outdrives - it has twin 5.0's and it feels less sporty than the 300. I think the horsepower made a difference.

Great Input ! Thank you all!

I started to make some calls and found that slips are not as plentiful around here as I thought. My local Marinia gets soo low only pontoons stay in slips close to the shore and I would have to put her in a slip a little ways from home to get an availability. So trailering has taken the lead.

I am concerned about power between the 5.0's and the 4.3's and sea trials should answer that question I think.

I suppose the thought of being stuck in 1 lake with the way water level flux around here (Georgia) concerns me some.

SOOO much good information and viewpoints from everyone, too bad I cant talk the wife into 2 boats!:smt043:lol:

Maybe Chuck will swap boats with me from time to time?!?

Scottzzzy,

I don’t know your location in Georgia and how far you’re from the nearest deep and large body of water, but in our area it’s very common for people to travel to their “floating condos” 1-2hrs each way, some less some more. My commute is 45min to 1hr. As majority of people with boats that provide enough comforts we go to the shore for the weekends and long weekends, so the commute is justifiable. If this is not an option for you I just wanted to give you heads up that towing, loading/unloading, launching and retrieving 280DA will be much different than your 220 Sundeck. I don’t mean that the process is different it’s all the extra details and items, canvas, etc. to pack/unpack, flush both engines. All it comes down to is a lot extra time that you’ll have to spend and account for when planning your trips. I can tell you from my experience that there was a huge difference between taking my 175BR vs. 240DA for the trips. I’m not trying to pull you in different directions, but rather setting proper expectations.

i agree with alex f, i have seen many people travel an hour or so to get to the boat. IMHO i think having a slip is the way to go. You have to think of the dock as another community.

Now there is the ticket "Fractional Ownership".:grin:

Hey Chuck,
I wander if you'll be able to keep laughing when he'll give to the "Fractional Ownership" ticket price for his new boat. It works both ways, doesn't it?.

Our commute is 3.5 hours, and worth every minute. But our condo doesn't float...

I guess, it's time to upgrade to a floating condo and move it closer to home

Do you know what your eighbor got for his 2004 300da? We are looking at ths 300DA as an upgrade to our 2007 240DA. The 300 seems a nice fit with LOTS of room and entertainment space plus the creature comforts we are looking for, larger head, genset, ac, tv, etc..

I'd love to know what they got for that boat? Thanks!

Perhaps Scott will chime back in here...but I think he told me it sold for around 90K. He sent me a PM because he new I have mine forsale.

Well, after thinking about this for a while, I think I can offer a solution, but it's not cheap. Buy a new '10 310 Sundancer. You'll have the honor of owning a boat designated over 30 feet, with the size dimensions of a 280 DA, and still be able to trailer it all the same.

I would love to! But i want a larger boat and no payments.....i want to still be able to sleep at night in this economy!:smt101:wow::smt101

We are still bouncing around but i cannot tell you all how GREAT all of your input is!! For all the huff and fuss some make about thiis site this is the PERFECT example of how GREAT CSR is!

Thank you ALL! :smt038
