Ipad

The new data plan does suck....BUT the silver lining (kinda) is that they will not be charging per kilobyte if you go over the limit. If you exceed the 2GB limit they charge you $10 for subsequent blocks of 2GB. It could add up for the data hogs but for most people that's somewhat fair.

its $10 for 1GB blocks. So now that netflix free streaming movie will cost you $10. That itunes HD rental will cost you $15. This cripples a rather cool useful device.

If apple is smart they will abandon ship with the AT&T exclusive contract, otherwise this is going to dramatically hurt their sales.

I understand that their network is stressed, but the timing and large clampdown seems very poor. 2GB of bandwidth is nothing these days.

Wow. I was envious of the unlimited data plan as the max plan we could subscribe to here is a 5 Gb plan. 2 seems unbearable!

Go figure, one week the US is the envy Of iPad data, the next week we have the worst plan in the whole world. Is this like a stock market data crash?

I could use an Ipad or kindle, etc if it had a built in GPS...Some multi-tasking ability, a method to search .pdf's. This would be a handy niche market for boat owners, charts, manuals, and portability.

It's got all that stuff. I use it all of the time on the boat.
I've got most of my manuals, 3 chart programs, tides, weather, movies, music, webMD, google, contacts, email... It's easy to move around, no external keyboard needed, you can actually see the screen in daylight.

Just get a good case for it, I like the apple case because it protects the screen too.

For MyType concluded that those whose laps are adorned by the dancing pleasures of an iPad are members of a "selfish elite." Should you find this characterization slightly offensive, might I add that the company also concluded that iPad owners are power-hungry, unkind, wealthy, sophisticated, and disproportionately interested in business and finance.

No wonder Mike's (Turtle and Apple iPad fan extraordinaire) dog came down and pissed by my boat last weekend....
