Became a new owner of a 410 aft cabin from 1987. She needs a little love, well maybe a moderate amount. I have a couple problems I'm looking to solve. The first are these water stains all over the forward birth and a few other places throughout the boat. I have ordered new port hole windows and the leaking has been solved already. My question for this is if anyone has tried the fabric spray paint? What is there now is glued in behind plenty of trim and I really don't want to yank it all out.
Also the clam shell vent is missing off of the starboard side, anyone know where I can find one that will match?
Thirdly I think it is from the canvas covers for the windows, but there is this black staining almost like paint in between the windows. Any ideas for removing it?
Thank you for all the help. I have learned a ton just from reading through these posts for a few days now.

Also does anyone have experience with the cost to completely redo carpet and maybe all the headliners. Along with a gelcoat job?

I had water stains also. The problem will be there as long as you have a leak. I took off the entire rub rail dug out all the sealent and replaced it then put rub rail back. Water leak stopped. I then used carpet cleaner and very soft brush to clean all the fabric, sucked out the excess soap with shop vac. In all I think I did it 4 times before the stains were gone to the point you did not notice them. In retrospec new fabric would have been the way to go after I stopped the leak.

I doubt the paint will be your best option. To do it right I would think you would still have to remove the trim first & paint it seperately. However, that being said, I am amazed with the results I have seen with the paint used in vehicles.

this is not black staining between windows. black paint is coming out!

haha oh great..... any ideas how to deal with that short of sanding it out and a new gel coat?

I don't think so, I took a pressure washer to the boat and it didn't make a dent in the black stuff.

The window frames look like they were painted black from the factory. I'd just repaint with a flat black heat paint. It could have also been from a cover placed over the boat which rubbed on the painted frame?

Before removing interior trim or considering having the boat re-upholstered, you might get a professional carpet cleaner to do what he can to remove the water stains. One of the large franchised operations, I think it is Stanley Steemer, does a great job on water stained boats here. $250 goes a long way with those guys.

Well sanding the black marks out worked great. I think a previous owner painted in between the windows for some strange reason or like it was said before it just rubbed off the window covers.

Tried a carpet cleaner guy already. He didn't use heat, but a special cleaner and high volume suction. Really didn't make a dent.

Thanks for all the help so far guys.
