Interesting stuff a previous owner left on the boat you purchased

When I went through the 506 outfitting it with our personal gear, I found a box of latex gloves in the forward head supplies locker and stuffed under the gloves were about twenty large condoms (new in the package). I wondered if the boat as used by the owner as a stabbin cabin. I could not figure out otherwise why they would have been stashed away otherwise. I still see the previous owner from time to time and often wonder how fun it would be to ask him what that is all about;) Not sure I really want to know.

Come on, those gloves were for working on the engines, and the condoms were for...hmm I am stumped.

I think the LARGE is just marketing.....what guy is going to the cash register with extra small condoms :)..... and if there is a size difference and it seems like it isnt going to fit at the time of need.....guaranteed you will make it fit

When we got are 310 Da. the top drawer under front berth . Screw holding up the AC conditioner control box was to long and screwed into the drawer. Unfortunately there was nothing in the drawer it was probably that way forever. But I did find Green Mardi Gras neckless and a black captains hat. In our 230Wk. I pulled the fridge out and found a red plastic rowboat bowl.

I was confused with the two dates, current magazine 15 years ago, stolen 4 1/2 year ago.
The magazine was new when we bought the boat and I left it in my drawer. It was than stolen 4.5 years ago.

The 330DA I bought had a nice set of spare props buried in a cabin bilge compartment, always a nice find.

The 3780 I bought was a bank repo, lots of stuff missing, including the cabin tube TV.

The 2006 Monterey sat on the hard for a long time. Half of the generator was missing. I think someone, or lots of someones, were using it for spare parts. A mounted mirror in the cabin was gone, and lots other strange stuff missing. First time I had to install a mirror on a boat.

I found a bill of sale for my boat dated 2009 that was $10k less than I paid this year. I guess that’s the double whammy of 2008 collapse and the covid run up at work. Or, I just really overpaid.

Broker or someone left the 4 year old ad for my boat from when the previous owner purchased it. It was listed for what I paid for it, though I am assuming the buyer paid less. Cool to see the ad though and some of the changes since.

Interesting thread. So we actually just sold our boat and it headed down to Seattle last Friday. Yes it’s been a sad week. I left a kayak, an extra anchor, a custom stern line spool setup (PNW’ers understand) ,all the kitchenware, toaster, water kettle, bow cushions, cabin heaters, bilge heater, life jackets, fuses, spare generator parts, spark plugs, bath tissue, impellers, and lots of cleaning supplies.

And so apparently while the boat was in transit, somehow the shore power cord got burned out. The new owner called the broker and wanted me to pay for it.

I told him to sell the kayak and buy 4 cables (it’s a nice kayak).

Tell him to take a long walk on a very short pier....

I didn't realize you were selling, sorry to hear that!

Considering the dude that asked for the fuel, I'd like payment for that starter....:D Just kidding. Yes I left it. It wouldn't work on the new boat.

And I thank you very much! It’s still unneeded. Couldn’t you have left me a transmission tho

who uses condoms? Bareback FTW.

Know of a guy that found 50k burried in the depths of an old cigarette he was redoing - he actually offered it to the guy he bought it from if he could tell him how much it was and where it was hidden - guy had no idea.......and he had owned the boat for 15 years

Cigarette Boat, I assume SoFlo? Hmmm…

My current boat was literally full of junk...took most of a day to go through it.

Of note were new nav lights and a pair of new in the box Edelbrock carbs.

There was also an older For Sale sign indicating a re-power at some point.

Of course the holding tank was full too.

So are we. But it was the right (and necessary) move for now. And it was a good time to sell as the boat seemingly appreciated significantly in our possession over the last 5 years. :)

So when I bought my boat in December I asked the marina about the spare props.
They said they’re here in the warehouse on a pallet and sent me a picture.
We had decided that the boat did not have a storage place for them as is common.
Today we removed a panel in the rear crews quarters to access the HVAC from behind and low and behold there were the factory spares.
