I went thru the new to me boat this weekend to see what goodies the previous seller left me/us. I am actually surprised how much they did leave, and what I can use. Lines, water hoses, cleaners and such. Threw a lot of it away as it was dated/old. Found 15 roles of toilet paper when checking for the fresh water system leak. Unfortunately it go soaked.

They did leave some t-shirts, a scarf, sock, a cool hat the GF likes. The t-shirts will make good towels. They left what I thought was a nice pair of binoculars, that I later realized are cracked. left some spare parts/filters and such as well. I found 3 roles of box tape, the tape one uses to close a cardboard box for shipping. No idea why they have that on a boat. They also left some new handheld/mounted dinghy navigation lights.

Some of the stuff was unidentifiable. Found an old camouflaged flashlight with a compass. We are talking mid 1990s model.

We offered to give this back to the broker, he said keep it.

Can't find the holding tank pump out adapter. That's not bad though, I only thing I think I need to buy.

We left lots on the boat for our buyer. Life jackets, the original factory three ring binder book with user manuals for everything on the boat, multiple sets of lines, complete set of dishes, silverware, bottle of gel coat, oil, antifreeze, complete set of charts for Lake Michigan, Lake Huron and North Channel, laundered sheets and pillowcases, new factory throw pillows, new factory bed spread and a spanner wrench for the sea chests. I offered to sell the buyer a set of freshly prop scanned spare props for $2,500. He balked at the price and said no. On his way home he ran the boat aground on a sand bar and called me the next day to buy the props. He found out $2,500 was a very fair price. All the maintenance was current and the fuel tank was full. He got a turn key boat that could have cruised for 250 miles.

When I bought my first house the seller removed the washer, dryer, and dishwasher. When I sold my second home I left matching paint, painting supplies, fire extinguishers, shelving, and a US flag.

When I sold my other SeaRay I left the anchor, and the stainless propeller. I also had all of the original manuals.

Seems when I buy something I need to get all of the accessories. An exception was my new boat from PWM. They gave me everything I needed to go boating. I did add to it of course. Franks Whaler came pretty loaded too with extra canvas and all of the original vinyl. Houses, not so much.

When we purchased the 44DB, the owner was getting out of boating and left everything from dishes, sliverware, towels, bed linens, life jackets, tools, hand held VHF, ....everything you will find on any boat that is ready for duty. When we bought the current 420DA, here again, everything was left. On this one, a nudie flick was even left in the blue ray player. I have given away and thrown away 2-dumpsters full.

Funny, we bought a 1991 420 DA from Lake Altoona, it also came with a nudie flick. When we sold it, we decided it should go with the boat and told the buyers about it.

15 years ago when we bought the boat there was a current Penthouse magazine in the MSR drawer. It was stolen 4.5 years ago when we were burglarized...
How can a 4 1/2 year old magazine be “current”???????

Labs are one of the worst shedding dogs around. Short hairs everywhere.
When we bought the 3870 we were doing cockpit deep clean. Noticed the bilge pump running and investigated. The scupper drains were not flowing and the water from the hose was overflowing the gutter system into the bilge. When I had the drains all open and working we had more than a softball of dog hair what a mess.

Have a friend who owned a new boat with a white leather interior. He made the mistake of taking his black lab on the boat for a long weekend and the boat became covered with little black hairs everywhere down below. They are great dogs, just not black on a white interior. Another friend has a yellow lab. Must be the same deal but you don’t see the hair.

Ditto for my boat (minus the nudie flick!), the owner's wife had recently passed and he was getting out of boating. It was apparently "her boat", but with all of the detailed maintenance manuals he left on board, it was clear that he liked keeping everything ship shape.

He even threw in a spare set of props, which I did not expect as they weren't on the boat during the inspection/sea trial. I found out later from my broker that he intended to keep them and sell them separately, but because we didn't dicker/nickle and dime him, he liked us and gave them as part of the deal.

Their hairs are like porcupine quills. They seem to stick into things (like carpet and fabric) but don't vacuum out. We have two golden doodles. Contrary to the myth, they do shed a little, but they shed soft balls of fluff that vacuum up easily. Love labs too though.

Those items are personal property in a RE transaction and need to be specifically listed in a purchase agreement to avoid disputes.
The washer and dryer were junk so no big loss but the kitchen appliances were in the contract. We did the walk through and the dishwasher was there. We closed and it was just a giant hole. The seller did replace it but with a bottom of the line GE. We tried to fight it but the realtor convinced us to just let it go. This was 25 years ago and we were young and inexperienced in home buying.
