Anyone know what I might expect to pay to get a v birth reupholstered on a 1986 270da, complete with foam?

I'm not sure what someone would charge you, but foam can get very pricey - and expect to pay full list price for the material, upwards of $20 a yard. I found a lady locally who does furniture upholstery. If it's for a boat, you're on your own, and have to bring her all the materials. So, up to yourautotrim.com, where 3" foam is $49.99 for a 3"x25"x106" piece. Bought 3 and some material at Joann Fabrics. All I gotta do now is just take her everything, and she'll go to work on it. If I pop all the staples out, mark all the old foamn pieces, etc., she'll do the whole thing for $250, with my materials. $350 if I just drop everything off. I suppose she doesn't wanna mess around popping a zillion staples out of the old stuff. I got lucky, but my point is if you call around your area, you might be able to find an upholsterer who'll do the same thing. I can't see a regular upholsterer charging you any more than $500-600 for everything.

I got a quote a couple years ago to have the berth in my 290 redone and it was like $1,500 for just fabric, no new foam.

Instead I bought some new marine grade vinyl from a fabric shop for $100 and had a woman I work with who sews everything redo them. Since she had never done anything like it before I told her to just let me know what she wanted for her effort when she was done. She was happy with $100. And for $200 vs. $1,500 so was I.

I'm currently replacing all of my upholstery (inside and out) on my 1984 245 Sundancer. The cost of good arine vinyl on the west coast is about $30 a yard. The vinyl alone for my boat was $600. You can save a lot by pulling the hundreds of staples out yourself. My foam is still in great condition so I saved a lot there. I'm waiting for the labor costs (upholstery guy is a friend) yet and will post pictures when it's done. Good luck, Bob

So with new foam, new wood and sunbrella material, 1500 might not be a bad price?

I should've mentioned that my cushions are just material wrapped over the foam then stapled to a plywood base. Then there's these little button things with long thread on them that go thru the foam, thru a small driilled hole in the plywood base. They're pulled a bit, then stapled to the plywood. Others here may have a regular cushion, and those would be a bit more pricey. I could almost do the project myself, but me and upholstery just can't get along...
