I'm cruising down the Hudson today inbetween rain clouds. Just putting around and I come upon a little marina that's not listed on my GPS. I pull in closer and I see a sign that says "Do not wait in the marina for the fuel dock". I think, cool, they have gas. I pull in and spot the fuel dock and no one there. Pull up, tie off and a lanky kid lanks over to the boat. I tell him I need gas and a pump out. $3.39/gallon :smt038

That's cheaper than the gas to fill the Jeep. :smt038

It's a NJ municiple marina and it's regulated by the state of NJ. I fee like I just found a $100 bill on the street.

Yea, the gas prices are great there... He didn't mention that the pump out cost him $150.00!!!! :smt089

I hope you marked the place on the GPS.
GPS or not, Mike can probably find that place now in the fog with the GPS off
It's a sad day when we're excited to pay $3.39/gal :smt009

On a serioous note, do marina's charge you guys to pump out? :smt021 That seems insane to me. They don't around here. :smt017

Re: Pump-out fees

Our last marina was $5 if you slipped there / $10 if you did not. They did it.

Our surrent marina is no charge if you slip there and its is self service.

At Fond du Lac you get a free one if you buy so much gas. I dont remember the amount because I am over every time. $100? Not 100% sure.

I just got a pump out yesterday... It went from $3.00 to $5.00 at our marina. (if you slip there). It's also self serve, along with fuel.

almost all are free here in nyc. some places charge $5

Believe me, I know where that marina is now. it is sad that i'm jazzed about $3.39.

I'll have to check but I believe the reason ours are all free is mandated to keep Puget Sound clean. Fees may promote illegal discharge

My Marina started charging for the pump out... 5 bucks a shot ...

I would think at almost 100 per foot , they could cover the pump out maintenance... Id swear im the only one using the damn thing too.....

Turtle - I fueled there last year on my way back north from the city - I remember that sign. Good to know about the prices so I can hit it on my way down this summer (although I think it was on my GPS - I had a Garmin at the time).

I think it would be cheaper for you not to fill up and pay the $2 for the pumpout

Yeah or we need to figure out how to run off the methane produced  and don't pump out...... :smt101

Pump out in SoFla ... Drum Roll Please

$40. bucks for the first 30 gallons and then $1 buck a gallon there after, but they come to the boat and do the deed.

Paying to rid of the waste at a buck a gallon!

$40 for a pumpout?????

That does it, I'm officially not moving to Florida.

that has got to be the most expensive state to boat in by far. I thought NY was bad. Is there anything that is cheap in Florida?

Yeah... Last year I had these 2 very hot ladies about 20 years old in string bikinis come up to the boat with a portable pump out station and wanted like 50 bucks to pump out the system (plus tips). Every guy on the dock was getting their sewage pumped out.... what a racket! (too bad my wife was on the boat and she had all the cash  )

Turtle tone,
If I would only get the pump out and not the fuel, all I could do is
SIT on my boat, yes i said SIT :smt043

For me. . .I have a "cash back" credit card (rebate every month). 1% all purchases. Except 3% gas.

My marine fuel gets the gas credit.

I have been paying $3.59 on the Barnegate bay (Coty marine). I did see, however, $3.49 down at Forked River over the weekend. I guess I should go on a gas dock tour next weekend. Could be fun Shouldn't cost me more than $100 to find the cheapest gas on the bay

hahaha, I know what you mean. But when I've paid $3.89/gallon just a few weeks ago, $3.39 was a nice find. MUCH better than cash back  It's no cash go out. I've clocked 50 hours on my boat already this year so my fuel budget has already gone out the window. But I'm a cheap bastard. I'll spend the whole weekend fixing a $10 fan. I would wait for the tide to go out and ride the current to the fuel dock. I save leftovers from the night before and make Mike's breakfast surprise. Right now i'm going on 4 months looking for the best deal on a dinghy. I put everything on my credit card for the miles, I don't think I've bought an airline ticket in 8 years, all free. But I don't seem to have a problem dropping a big chunk of change on floating fiberglass :smt101
