just got my boat registration renewal and went online (as i've been doing for years with all vehicles/boats i've owned) to do the renewal. lo and behold, for the first time, they have tacked on a "$2 CONVENIENCE FEE" to the reg fee for the priviledge of renewing ONLINE. are you freakin' kidding me? online transactions save them all sorts of money in clerical costs and paperwork and now they have the balls to tack on a fee? F*** them. go ahead, laugh, but this is a matter of principle. i'll spend the 2 cents on the check, 0.5cents on the ink and 40 whatever cents on the stamp before i give them any more of my money.

I hate NJ ever since I moved here from PA 2.5 years ago. They are ridiculous. I can't wait to move back to PA. I feel your pain.

Doug

Wow, convenience fee? It's to their advantage that you do it online? It makes no sense. More than just NJ does this.

Who said convenience was free. Do it online and its done, no worries whether it got there
or not. save paper and the stamp that uncle sam gets. Damn it, the friggin stamps just went up a penny again.lol

So...What's keeping you?? See ya later. Don't let the door hit ya...etc, etc.

As soon as my house sells, I'm out.

Did you grow up in NJ? If you haven't lived elsewhere, you might be ignorant to the fact how bad NJ screws you. Ask around... I'm not getting into it on here.

Doug

hehehe. I can tell you stories. I also mailed in my NJ boat registration for the exact same reason.

In PA, car renewal online is free, but boat registration online costs $2. (my jetskis are PA registered). At least the PA boat renewal is good for two full years.

The real pain for me is the stupid NJ 7% sales tax. I actually defer some purchases out of spite and wait till I get back to PA.

Not to mention NJ insurance premiums, NJ property taxes, NJ gun laws, etc.

It sounds crazy. . .but property taxes in NJ for me are about the proportionally the same as up here in hicksville PA.

They delayed applying reassessment 12 monthes. . . . I hope they delay it forever :)

As for gun laws. . .heck, here in Hicksville, I think they provide long guns in the elementry schools for buck season.

Hey guys, you’ve got to be kidding me, getting pissed off about getting screwed for $2. I wander how you’ll react when our houses will be reassessed next year. It’s obviously your choice to mail it, but I would never let this small stuff bother me. Accept and move on. We’ve got bigger things to handle. I wish every screw up was $2.

Maybe all you Jersey folks would like to pay South Carolina PP tax on your boats. $1000 a year for my 260DA.:smt021

You can always move to the wonderful land of liberals and democrats in Mass. We don't have tax increases anymore, we just have extra fees.

NC is the same - not sure what my PP was on the boat but it's enough on all of the vehicles to make you wince! We also have the convenience fee for license/registration renewals. But with all of that said I can't think of very many places I'd rather live!

Keep talking boys....Our escape to PA keeps looking more and more wonderful!!

Say Hi to Gov. Jon for me. He may have done well for the Goldman Saks share holders but he is only helping the welfare masses and illegal aliens in the beautiful Garden State!

Maybe we need him instead of Obama to fix the nations financial problems!!!

Hi Dominic,

Think fuel is expensive now.....my mind explodes every time I see B-Rack and his ilk on the TV.

Hope all is well.......Hows the secret spot?

Well. . .I can slam NJ with the best of them. . . .but I do know that because NJ mandates Gas Attendenents (no self serve gas) -> Gas tends to be $0.05 to $0.10 cheaper than in PA.

(at least until recently. . this summer the prices have been more or less the same)
