I finally got my "in boat" stereo system upgrade. I will be having a tower installed after summer and will be doing a little more with some tower speakers.

I took some quick pics when I picked it up, so sorry for the quality but you will get the jest.

Replaced stock stereo unit with a Sony Deck with full IPOD controls.

I had installed 6 Wetsounds XS650s (6.5").

I also had installed in a fiberglass then carpeted encolusure 1 Arc Audio KAR Series 12" sub.

I have a 6 Channel JL Marine Amp pushing the speakers mounted on the port side underneath the glove box area. I took picture but it did not show up due to the lighting. We went with a wired remote on the helm as well as a Waterproof RF Remote for use when floating in the water.

They installed a second battery with a Blue Sea battery switch. I forgot to take a picture of the setup but will update next time I'm on the boat. It is right next to the OEM battery and the switch is mounter in between the two batteries.

I picked up the boat last Tuesday from Hydrotunes in Austin, TX and my family and I went to Lake Amistad in Del Rio, TX. We had a great time on the water and enjoyed the new upgrade alot! Needless to say the system is L O U D and C L E A R!! :smt038

Looks great...bet she sounds great!
I would like to see a pic of your battery switch set-up. Did you use the combiner or just the switch?

Dream,

I just used the switch. To be honest, I had never heard of the combiner until reading through some posts last night. I have had my boat for a year but just came across this site two weeks ago.

What do you do, right! The combiner osunds like a great deal but so far the switch has worked great. The family and I spent 6 days on the water and it worked like a champ.

I put the boat back in storage due to the Tropical Storm coming through, but as soon as I get it out again I will edit post with the battery setup.

You can still add the ACR(Automatic Charging Relay) if you want

Kenny,

I'm definitely sticking with Wetsounds. I wanted the 12" to be Wetsounds but they were backordered and I didn't want to wait.

For the towers, I'm pretty sure I'm going with the Wetsounds Double Up package. It's
2 - Pro 60's and 2 MB-8's. I see they are about to start selling amps too and will probably use there big one for the tower and add the the WS420 EQ.

The EQ has a feature called Boatlink which allows boaters to daisy chain their systems together to allow for one loud time in the party coves. I have a few friends that have this setup and it's pretty amazing when everyone gets together.

Thank You to all for your replies.

I almost went with the double ups but got the 2 Pro-80's and they are plenty loud. We dont have any problem hearing them at all on the wakeboard  How did they mount the extra side speakers? I have 2 side and 2 bow.

How was the trip to Del Rio? I know the lake is like 18' low but for Amistad that is nothing. Where did yall put the boat in at?
We are heading to lake Whitney on thursday and may hit Amistad the next thursday.

Kenny,

When I purchased the boat it only had the one pair of speakers next to the two captains chairs. We simply replaced the stock ones in that setup. The two on the bow were cut and installed using the access door on anchor storage. If you notice they are st close enough where an additional pair could be installed at a later date if needed/wanted. I don't think I will be doing this, because it is already loud.

The two that were mounted in the back were cut through the fiberglass board. They made a cut like a cross through the vinyl, peeled it back and then cut the circle for speakers. Once hole was cut they wrapped the vinyl through hole and installed speakers.

Lake Amistad was great, it didnt seem to be thta low actually, but like you said most of the lake is over a 100' deep anyway. We stay up on the Devils Arm of the Lake at the Laguna Diablo. You know we were talking about those not being very nice but they have recently done some upgrades inside. Well at least in cabins 8 & 9. We launched boats at the Rough Canyon Marina.

I've never been to Lake Whitney but I've heard great things about it. We are probably heading to Lake Travis on Labor Day. We have some friends on the lake (270DA and a 36' ZR Donzi) and we usually go out early and cove up (if we don't have the kiddos).

Hope you have a blast on your trip!
