I wanted to mention some outstanding customer service by the folks at Hurley Davits.

I had been talking to them about buying the davits for my 400 DA and at the last minute a friend of mine saw an add on another message board with someone selling Hurley davits, that he said were brand new and never installed on his boat. I thought I could save $300 dollars, so I bought them.

The "gentleman" who sold them to me told me I would need to get the mounting brackets from Hurley. I order the mounting brackets directly and they arrived a few days later. The package with the davits did not show up until several days later.....and when it did there was a part missing. All of this just 2 days before I was supposed to leave on a family vacation for a week. Needless to say I was pretty pissed.....

I called Hurley and spoke to Tonya....who was just as nice as could be and she knew the part I was looking for and overnighted it to me.

All to often we are forced to settle for sub-standard customer service....and a terrible attitude, particularly in the marine business. But I want to acknowledge the folks at Hurley for doing an outstanding job. All with a great attitude and a friendly sense of humor.

End of the story. I got the parts I needed the next morning......installed the davits by 1PM and was off on vacation with my dink firmly attached to the swim platform. The Hurley Syetem worked great!! I would recommend them to anyone that wants to bring the dink along.

the Hurley davits don't require any glue on the dink. It is more of a cradle system than the traditional davits.

I'll post photos later this week....

Steve,

Todd Hurley is a Sea Ray owner and a member of our club and I am sure he will enjoy reading that. All too often we only hear about the negative customer service, it is always nice to hear about the positive experiences as well. Thanks for sharing and glad to hear it all worked out.

Wow, similar story this week as well! I lost one of the rubber stoppers, emailed Tonya and she overnighted me one.
Great service indeed!
Love my Hurley Davits!

I tried, she wouldn't even install or tutor me on my davits.

After a few weeks of using the Hurleys.....I can report that they are everything I had hoped they would be. I have a 9 1/2 ft air floor dink with a 4hp 4 stroke engine and I am easily able to pull it on and push it off the davits......all very quickly.

I would recommend them to anyone thinking about getting them.

buddy just installed the cradle type davit on his 410 EC. He loves it .. he alone can pull the hard bottom dink onto the cradle with a 15 hp motor on it . HE loves it .

Hello Larry,

When you are driving your boat, do you fix the boat more horizontally?
Otherwise I think you get a problem with your own wake when you stop the boat.

Like to hear.

This is my "own" dink system.

Hello Dom,

Yes, got a good feeling about the result!
Indeed saved a lot of money, because the Hurley system cost $1500,- to get it in Europe
I had the idea already, when you where still thinking about mounting the weaver concept.
But I got really enthusiast when I saw your idea, using the weaver brackets.
I was still thinking about how to mount it on my platform, And than you gave me the perfect solution! :smt038

Thanks again for that.

Peter.

Peter, it's only tilted like that when I need to get around on the swim platform. The way I configured the straps I can release the rear snap shackle and the buckle on the strap is located so that it catches on a little triangle thingie and stops it at this angle. When I pull the strap back to the eye bolt on the transom, it's in the horizontal position, strapped down, ready to run. The forward strap is always loose for the tilted position.

Dom, do you know how many trips to West Marine, Home Depot, and the emergency room I avoided by just buying the Hurley? I came up with a bunch of designs of my own and in the end, just decided to buy the Hurley davits. Agree, there ain't a whole lot there for your nine hundred dollars, but it generally works and my fingers are still attached.

Yes, that is what I thought.
I have also very limited space, but it works.

Did you put some kit in, when you mounted the davit?

Peter.

I have the Hurley system as well.
Has anyone noticed that theirs is wearing the bottom of their inflatable? I have a 11' Brig RIB and the seam that connects the tubes to the hull are getting worn very bad. It is also pretty tough to get it up on the platform by myself (w/9.9 merc). I am 29yrs young and 210lbs.... I am thinking something isn't right with the way my brackets fit the bottom of the RIB. I have everything (minus the boat!) in my garage for the winter so I plan to match it up and see if something is getting hung up.
