Hurley Davits on 340 DA

Allright, here are some pics fore and aft. In looking at it today, 6 inches was a bit optimistic. It's more like 4.

I went 3 seasons with a similar setup - not being able to really access the swim platform when the dinghy is up. It's part of the reason I went with the H30 and the wildly overpriced extension for this year. I'm hoping the 10" between the tube and transom will be worth it :)

Ok, maybe winter and the pandemic are taking their toll on my brain but every time I see this pop up I wonder why someone wants to put a "Harley Davidson" on a 340 DA - anyone else or am I alone ?!?! LoL

I see what you mean. I’m going to check out Trick Davits too as some people like them as well and they make an extended model. I think the extra space will be nice to have. Thanks again for your input. Jeff

They can be left in place, but don't have to be. Each rail is secured by two cap screws, in conjunction with a backing rail under the swim platform, and the cap screws are run through the existing holes in the swim platform vents, so no holes need to be drilled. I also added two stainless mounting blocks at the trailing edge of the swim platform, but those can certainly be left in place. Installation or removal takes about 5 minutes.

Your design is just amazing and I love the space you have between the transom and pontoon. I have a new zodiac aero 10’2” 5’1” beam but the same 340 ( 2002) it looks like it would fit it pretty well.
You are very talented for sure. I didn’t think there was a core on these platforms, good to know. Yo may have a new career here !

Hi Dale, thank you for taking the time to show your beautiful design. Are you actually in the fabricating business ie making these to sell ?

Yes, I have made quite a few davit systems for other members, of various designs.

I would be interested in a price for my 340da it’s a 2002. 99-2002 same dimensions. Not sure if you have the time and what time frame you would need? Your design is very nice. Thank you. Jeff

Stay away from the Trick davits. It is what was on my boat when I bought it. They work like crap if you dont have a soft bottom with a trolling motor. I called asking for help. I was told I was not their customer as I didn't buy the davits from them. Non-existent customer service. I went with the H3 and have zero regrets. Stee and I both are in the same marina. Several others have gone with the Hurley H3. I have the 10” between pontoon and transom. Very nice set up
