We just took delivery of our 290 Amberjack yesterday! We cannot figure out how to lower the dinette table to convert it into a bed. Can anyone help us with this?

Dont know about your boat specifically, but with mine there are two seperate table legs/poles. One long one for using it as a table, and one short one for using it as a berth.

You have to switch them to change the configuration.

Only one leg for the table and it's the tall one for using as a table. Since asking the question here Sea Ray also responded and says the post should just pull out from the table and the floor. I'm now guessing it's stuck due to lack of use.

Yeah, they can get wedged in very tight. When I first took delivery of my 310 there were several parts like that (including my short table leg for the cockpit table) that I didn't think were there. Turns out there were more nooks and crannies for storage than I thought, and everything was there. Table legs, shore power, filler cushions - all can hide in the strangest places.

As far as removing the table, wiggle and twist, wiggle and twist.

Agree. There is only one post and it has to be removed to drop the table.

Congrats on the boat.

If you are having trouble getting the post loose from the holder, shoot a bit of penetrating oil around the base of the post and wiggle and turn the table as mentioned above. Once you get it loose, clean it and the pocket thoroughly and apply a lubricant, ie; silicone spray or similar lube to post and holder. Good Luck

I have had the same problem. I turn a can of keyboard cleaner upside down so the contents actually come out as a liquid. The intense cold shrinks both the pole and holder enough to wiggle them out.

I tap on the side of the pole (light to medium "slapping" motion) while pulling up. In the end, there's any number of ways to pull it out, but the MOST important part is... DO NOT have your face directly above the pole while pulling up!

Thanks for all of feedback - we got the leg out of the floor, now we're working on getting it out of the table. At least we're on the right track!

"but the MOST important part is... DO NOT have your face directly above the pole while pulling up! " Are you speaking from experience? :smt089

Sort of - secondhand experience, as it was. Years ago, my brother's table leg was stuck and he asked for help. I told him how to proceed and we went down into the cabin. Well, he went right to it and forgot the "most important" part that I had just told him - literally about 60 seconds before. All I got out was "Dave, wait, don't..." BANG! Right above his eye. No blood, so I felt comfortable with a sly, little smirk and a glancing look that said "See, big brother DOES know best".
