I'm pretty sure the Captain learned a lot that day. I confess that the first couple times out, even after reading and coaching from others, my own were some what similar. Nothing like doing it to educate you, you can only learn so much from books and others.
I just get close and throw a kid over the side with a rope. They swim to the dock and tie me off and I pull in. No problems. When going out we reverse the process. Kid shoves me off, falls in the drink, I fish him out and we all go tubing.
Great day on the water.

What's a "bow thruster"?
It's a propulsion device at the bow that allows the operator to move the bow side to side.
True, but I'm sorry, one shouldn't begine his boating life in a 44DB yacht. Can you imagine the scenario if he looses control due to the wind or a current and now you have ~30,000LB yacht rushing thru and crashing everything on it's path. :smt009
You got lots of money and you insist on getting larger boat, God bless you. But, please be smart enough to take proper training.
Real men don't use bow thrusters. :smt009
