How Many Others Are Affected By Flooding

I've been watching the national weather lately nothing else on tv we sure feel bad you folks it doesn't seem like it's going to let up anytime soon. Hope everyone stays safe we've had some bad flooding in the PNW but nothing like this.

We're now officially in a drought, will be having water restrictions go into effect any day, the weather folks are saying not to expect any rain till September, our snow pack was the 2nd lowest in history the rivers are trickles compared to what they should be.

A man made for power generation lake near us with multi-million dollar homes on it is almost dry because the river feeding it is being sent to another river with salmon runs.

Seeing those pictures reminds me of what was like all throughout Texas last year. Many people had no access to water, even though they lived on a lake! But, it is Texas, from one extreme to another...

I was told today that our boathouse broke loose this morning during a storm. It started floating towards the breakwater. One of my dock mates and the marina operations manager tied up to it and guided back to a position where it could be temporarily tied it off to another boathouse and ???. Don't know all the specifics but this is getting REALLY old!

I hope your boat remains unharmed Bart. Best wishes from drought ridden California.

Thanks Ken. I hear it's terrible for you folks at the moment. We've had 4-5 years of drought here and thought it would never end. Hopefully CA turns around as quickly as we did but maybe not quite as much.

Thanks Alex.

I'm starting to understand how our snowbird boating brothers feel at the end of the season when putting their boats on the hard while we're planning lake weekends.

It sucks!

My biggest concern is that my wife is starting to work out that not going to the boat can be just as much fun and it opens up new opportunities of entertainment. I better work out a way to make the weekends more miserable!

Makes me glad to be boating on a river connected to the ocean....not sure we'd ever get that low. Its low right now, but we can still get every boat out.

Good luck to all in severe droughts/floods.

Our marina has had 5 feet of water over the parking lot for a week. Basically 4 weeks without using the boat. May drop after 4th of July weekend. We are at the confluence of the Illinois River and Mississippi River. Fairly discouraged. Of course the one weekend I have plans is the first weekend that we may be able to use the boat.

Lol! I know the feeling!!!

Well, here it is July 15th and I still haven't had my boat out of the slip in 2015.

We're going to be busy and traveling for the next 4 weeks but I better come back to some d@mn improvement. :smt013

I hear ya. I've only been out on the SeaDoos and that's it. At Catfish Bay, the fuel dock spun around 180 degrees and is completely out of commission. No fuel no pump out...

On the bright side we are ferried out to dock, and have water and power. How are you fairing over on Texas side? Any improvement at all?

No improvement. Still no water or power. We can get ferried to the boat but why bother? Where would I go? And if I did, what would I hit?

Sigh

That is quite true. I haven't taken mine out either. The water seems to be clearing up, at least not as much debris floating. Of course I can't say what's below the surface floating undetected.

I'm waiting and actually doing some work on our boat. I've seen several of the boy's head out. A couple south of the railroad bridge and a 550 DA this past weekend out of my marina. He just went out to a cove to dropped anchor for the weekend. We are bridge locked (from Roosevelt bridge to railroad bridge) so there is really no where to go.

I hope it drops below 630 by September. Maybe we can salvage a couple months if we are lucky! Safe travels.
