Is there a secret spot, favorite destination that you routinely go to?
If so how far is the run you have to get there?

10 mins @ 8 knots

Definitely not a secret spot but will generally only be 3 to 8 other boats there.. all good friends. We pretty much go there every weekend to have a community cookout on the beach then all head in to the marina in the evening for dinner and libations till the wee hours.

( ok I'll mark the 15 mins )

Our club generally meets at a little cove on the ICW near Hollywood. It's not a long float distance-wise, but it is mostly manatee zone, so it's a slow go.

Shell Island is just around the corner, it just depends how far down it I want to go. But on busy weekends, it's just finding a open spot that is the trouble.

How about that 3 hour highway drive to get to the boat.

Marthas Vineyard 1.25 hours
Nantucket 1.25 hours

Cuttyhunk 2.0 hours
Newport 3.0 hours
Block Island 3.5 hours

About 5 seconds... as soon as I step foot on my boat, I'm already at my destination!

(I still voted)

In my case I put the boat in the water right out the back gate and then an hour to the beach on the South end of Ossabaw Island in St Catherines Sound. That is for a day at the beach, fishing, tubing that can be anywhere between home and the beach.

We like the San Juans this time of year. It's a 1 hour trailer run to the launch from home, then a 1:45 - 2 hr run to any of the locations we want to go up there. It's like going to a completely different world.

We putz around our lake for an hour and a half from our dock to Lake Michigan just to say hello to friends who are out and about. Our favorite place is 11 1/2 hours north of our home port. We will be leaving in about 4 weeks.

We joined the Tacoma Yacht Club a few years back and have taken advantage of the club dock and the 4 outstations available to members. Our favorite is Oro Bay, Anderson Island. It is remote in feel, it's under a 2 hour run and all the amenities are there, power, water, cable (if needed), beautiful park like setting on a couple acres.

When the kids are with us, 10 minutes to Hart Miller Island. When it it just the 2 of us, 30-45 minutes to either Middle River, Annapolis, or BIH.

It's a half hour run from the slip in Palm Beach Gardens, FL to Peanut Island, just inside of the Lake Worth inlet. Lots of anchoring in 3-6 feet of water. Northwest side is mostly younger crowd, open boats, and raft-ups. Southeast side is more for familys and cruisers. Some transient slips are on the East side, but also a lagoon with floating docks on the West side. The island, itself, has beaches, rest rooms, BBQs, covered picnic areas, walkinf paths, and a snorkeling lagoon.

It's like going to a boating festival each weekend.

I too head to Peanut Island 95% of the time. We launch from Lake Park, and a 30-45 min ride gets us to the island. Great place to be. Like RonF said, it's like a festival all the time. The island has campgrounds too.

I'm in search of restaruants and other places to hang out in the boca to Palm Beach Gardens Region.

Despite where I'm going a lot depends on what's going on at the locks. For my favorite anchoring spot right at the other side of the lock, anywhere from 10-45 minutes. 10-15 minutes if the water in the lock is already raised, 20-25 if it's not. Worst case situation is loading up the boat and hearing a northbounder call for passage and the lockmaster tell them he's going to lower the water for them. Then I'm looking at possibly 30-40 minutes, possibly longer if the people are new to locking through or (especially this early in the season) have to purchase a permit.

To go to the open river to tube or ski, or to any of the bars or restaurants, I have to deal with that lock, as well as another about 20 minutes futher south which is the same situation. From there it's about 10 minutes to the restaurant or public dock.

Sorry, I did not vote. We head out to so many different destinations.
Sunset beach = 1 miles one time.
Nipple Beach = 35 miles next time.
Columbia park = 15 miles the next time.
Many other locations as well. No pattern.

I don't like taking the boat out out unless it's at least a 1+ hour run somewhere...

I would say my average is 1-2 hours for weekend stuff but when cruising, it's usually 5-6 hours/day....

Our favorite spot is literally 2 miles away, just across the sound. Other than going there 2 weekends a month, we go out to lunch or dinner once every couple of months. That's about 8 miles each way. We head to Destin about twice a year. That's 55 - 70 miles each way, depending on where we go and which way. We go to Crooked Island about once a year - 25 miles each way or so. We head to Pt St Joe about once a year. That's about 35 miles each way. We go to the Apalachicola Sea Food Fest each year. That's 70 miles each way.

Next year, we're heading to Key West. That'll be about 700 miles each way, with tons of stops.

In a couple of years, once we upgrade to diesel, I imagine we'll be putting more miles/hours on our boat.
