I thought I'd start a thread to see how we're all rating our summer season so far. The following are my stats for the Upper Mississippi River Valley, specifically the Twin City area:

Summer: Cold and virtually non-existent

Precipitation: Virtually zero

# of days that affected boating: None

Overall boating experience rating this season on a scale of 1-10: 10

So, in spite of the negatives, boating is still absolutely perfect (we refuse to let mother nature get us down)!!!

Being from MN as well, my answers are the same except my overall boating experience is about 3 so far this year.

I must have a bad attitude because it has been cold and crappy and our lake level is down more than 1 1/2 ft. which means the weeds are insane. The (very) few nice days have been great but this is nothing like last summer. Aaaarrrghhhh....mid 70's for July highs!?!?!?!?

.

Cold and windy this summer in WI. I rented a slip and bought a wakeboard in hopes of learning to ride. I have been out alot more this year than last but whenever it is nice enough to get to boat its been too windy. Looks like 1 week of summer which was late June.
Like you no rain, water levels are down but not too bad.
Number of days that affected boating none; wakeboarding alot.
Number of weekends affected by other plans, too many.
Didn't hit any rocks yet.
7 of 10 warmer and less wind the rest of the summer would definitely make it better.

Hot (90+) sunny days = almost none

Record low highs (60's & 70's) = most days

Rain = constant washouts through July

Lake temp = cold! 10-15 degrees below normal

Overall weather = worst I've seen

New boat = priceless

Here in CA., we have had a great summer so far, I am at 153 hours just this year on the mains, weather has been above average from my perspective.

The cooler temps hurt but when the sun shines still not to bad. The wind is the big spoiler for us. It seems when we're on the boat the winds keep us from doing much on Lake Superior. The water was a stimulating 58F last weekend.

The Pacific Northwest is having a banner boating summer! Virtually no rain since mid-May, upper 70s-90 degrees over much of this this span. Just a beautiful boating season so far. Forecast is showing 80s to 90 for the next week at least.

I think we stole somebodys summer.

First you're not suppose to tell people that. Then they all move here.

Second, seriously, he's right. It's really been perfect.

Ha! Those two are such jokers! :smt043We've had rain, snow, sleet and hail all in the last week! This is the Evergreen state and it has to rain to keep it green!

That ought to keep folks away!! Seriously, it's been great over on the East side of the state and in Northern, Idaho. We got a good soaking rain a week and a half ago after we pulled out on Sunday night. Since then, we haven't seen a cloud and the temps have been climbing daily. We're expecting high 90's for the next week or so. Unfortunately, we're headed to the San Juans so we won't be able to stick around here and enjoy the weather.

I believe we in NE must have seriously pissed off Mother Nature, and she's whacked us with the sort of weather usually reserved for all those Starbucks-swilling Seattleites. Cool, wet, generally a non-summer so far.

However, as of tomorrow I'm on vacation for two weeks, which I'm sure will be picture perfect.......riiiiiiight...... still, a bad day of vacation is still better than a good day at work! Beer's just as cold and tasty..... hic!

cheers,

It has been great here! May was a washout. Cold and grey. June and July have been fantastic. No weekends of boating cancelled due to rain. Only a couple of hours spent at the dock in July waiting for something to blow by us. Excellent boating so far!

Now I get to enjoy a month of it without kids! :smt038

I cant imagine that anyone would still believe in "global warming" after this summer.

We started our summer early when we splashed our boat in the middle of March. We have had a great season so far, with not many weekends missed because of the weather. But as 'Ski' said, the last couple of months have been really nice and we are taking full advantage of it.

BILL! SHHHHH... You just jinxed the weather for Georgetown now... I've been looking at the 10 day forecast all week...

So much for global warming huh? Here in NC the weather has been fantastic so far. Been a little more windy than I'd like some days but hasn't slowed down our boat usage much. Heading up to Norfolk/Portsmouth for the weekend on the boat - can't wait!

What he said, June officially did not have a single sunny day here in the Boston area. July hasn't been much better. Our Aquapalooza was postponed til August, and my lawn is growing faster than I can keep mowing and my tomatoes are runts. Help send life jackets if things don't change.

Bill, You off to Maine?

Henry

I have used the boat more in April than I did in May or June. So far July has been an okay month in terms of using the boat, but we have only had one day that really felt like summer, and April's still topping it

But! on the "glass is half full" side of things, I've only been to the gas dock twice this year compared to stopping almost every other week last summer. My last fill up was on 6/13 and I still have about a quarter of a tank left.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've been 3 times in the last 4 weeks, and I'm happy about it
