How has your summer been?

We're on the St Croix and we've stayed on our new boat every weekend since mid April. A few rainy days, but we throw up the camper top and watch a movie or read. Did a mini-vacation for a few days in Lake City and Wabasha. And there's always the buffet at Treasure Island Casino...

Putting on lots of hours, burning lots of gas.
God help me...I love it.

Being from MN as well, my answers are the same except my overall boating experience is about 3 so far this year.

I must have a bad attitude because it has been cold and crappy and our lake level is down more than 1 1/2 ft. which means the weeds are insane. The (very) few nice days have been great but this is nothing like last summer. Aaaarrrghhhh....mid 70's for July highs!?!?!?!?

.

Consider the St Croix. No weeds...endless travel opportunities.

Up until last week, this summer blows.

In CT, in June, it rained something like 23 days out of 30, temps never got out of the 70's (most of the time in the 60's!) and it was windy.

July was almost a repeat, just a LITTLE less rain.

Finally, last week at Winnipisaukee, we had some nice days, but nothing spectacular. I heard it was nice around CT while we were away.

But...we have still got a bunch of boating done, have had lucky breaks for raft ups and wakeboarding, and no matter what, Im on a boat, bitch.

What you get paid to work:huh: Heck I put in a 60+ hour week and have not been for some time. I sure hope he gets it fixed fast so people can start buying vacations homes again.

Don't count on it. Recent reports of home sales being up is bunk. Here's why. Equity firms are going around the country and buying up whole developments for pennies on the dollar. I saw a company last week buy 5 homes worth about $6MM 2 years ago for a little under $1.2MM. There are no end users in the market and even if there were there are no banks to fiance anyone. Today I found out they are buying another 27 homes in one of our developments using the same math. These all show up in the government numbers as sales. These are nothing more than the banks unloading their mess.

On a happy note, you folks in the midwest and NE that are suffering through a pitiful summer, we in SW Florida would like to thank you. We have been blessed with a prevailing SW wind all summer and beautiful boating conditions. Usually by now we are in the throws of the stagnet summer rainy season with afternoon showers and lots of heat from the easterly breezes coming across the Florida peninsula. Not so this year. Basically in the low to mid 90's everyday with highs in the 70's at night. Or it could be I'm just getting used to it? LOL :smt043
