How far do you trailer in a typical weekend?

I typically trailer 8 miles, takes 15 min's or so. Once in a while, we'll go about 45 min's away, 35 miles to a friend's camp. Or maybe once a yr or 2, to my parents 50 miles and 1 hr away.

Well we trailer her where ever we go, and it's varies upon which Great Lake we want to go to, but normally it's 2-5 hours of driving again depending on our destination...but that's the fun part about Boating....
Normally we go to Elk Rapids a lot, it's a 5 hour drive, but we do it slowly and take breaks along the way....Hauling 20,000 pounds takes a little while ya know?
But for right now we don't want it to be any other way, this way we can go anywhere on less then half the feul it costs to drive the boat to any other point of interest..if we had a yacht in a slip well now it' would be ungodly to go anywhere now that feul here in Michigan has hit 4.00 per gallon, Yes I said 4.00 per gallon and that's in the truck stops,,, imagine what its going to be like in the Marina's......OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel bad for you Boys with the really big toys.... it cost you so much in feul to get nowhere.....this is why we have made a short decision to stay with the 320 instead of a new 44 for NOW.... I said for NOW.... This year we are going to track our gas consumption in the truck and in the Boat to see just how much we are Saving... by not having a bigger boat... and we don't really need a bigger boat, but I'd like one for sure...

Do they give you grief for hauling a boat that wide on the roadways? In Florida they get a little picky about that sort of thing.

We in Vancouver WA have it pretty good. There is three public ramps on the Columbia River within 15 miles. we typically go here for short afternoon trips. For all day trips, there is two lakes at the base of Mt Saint Helens that are awesome. They are about one hour away. There is one lake 5 minutes away, but because it is so close there is way to many idiots.

After the boat is pack and all gear stowed: the marina is a mile from the cottage and then have the vast water of Lake Huron to cruse.

The family and I have taken an hour trip 50 miles. I don't think we could handle much more. The kids start to get jumpy. My neighbors travel to the keys, two hours. The other coast three hours etc.

Sea Ray 280 - no problem. Haven't taken a big boat to Tahoe, but have two trips planned to Camp Richardson: one in June for the MM get together and another over the 4th (bunch of families with kids). I thought it was only about 80 miles, but that 2.5 hours can be wishful thinking on the weekends: Sometimes it's taken me up to 2 hours just to go from Truckee to the lake!

I didn't mention Shasta because with 370 miles shoreline, seems there is only about 10 miles of sandy beaches and the rest is steep banks for rocky red mud that scratches and stains the bow. Of course if I could tie up to a houseboat - that would be nice!

I would like to visit Trinity (4-5 hours)and New Hogan (> 2hrs), just need a few more weekends ini the year...

I don't care to pull a boat up HWY 50 so we go 80 to 89 (explaining the extra mileage) and then down to Obexer's Boat to launch (Homewood). Deep water launch ramp and great folks.

Yessir... no good beaches on Shasta. We tend to stay on the boat and not get off unless at a dock at the caverns, marina's, etc. If I do head to shore I never beach the boat... I anchor 10-20 feet off and swim. This provides an opportunity to wash all red clay off... prior to boarding. Wonderful lake to stay on. Careful with the houseboats... they can scratch too :)

In Michigan we have the MDOT, Michigan department of Transportation....And I haven't seen a MDOT wiegh master in 2 years, Our Michigan State police just watch us go by them in Awe...They stare and say WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! With their mouths wide open..... I'm not overwide 12 feet in Michigan, but I should have my yellow wide load sign attached, although I don't. I asked a State police one day if I should and he simply said.... Why do you want to draw attention to yourself with a big yellow banner, just so that thhe MDOT will pull you over for no apparent reason? So I said Ok, but with the Radar Arch down...it doesn't look big or wide... and we have never been pulled over by anyone besides people wanting to get a good look.

I wish I lived closer to water like some of you. Our weekend or day trips consist of:

1. Sardis Lake, MS - ~75 miles, 1 1/2 hrs
2. Pickwick Lake, TN - ~112 miles, 2 1/2 hrs
3. Greers Ferry Lake, AR - ~158 miles, 3 hrs
4. Lake Hamilton or Lake Quachita - 200 miles - 3 1/2 hrs

Last year we went to Pickwick most of the time, but did some trips to Greers Ferry and Lake Hamilton. Lake Sardis was to low.

Cant wait to hit Lake Quachita this summer.
