Just wondering how far most folks travel on a typical boating weekend, the non-holiday weekends. Please post both the time and miles.

We usually drive about 60 miles and it takes an hour. There are other lakes that are 45 miles to 80 miles away that take 50 minutes to about 90 minutes to get to. The close lake has too many boats on it and none of those folks know how to operate a boat. Throw in a ridiculous amount of boat traffic and life is not fun. The lake that is 90 miles away is great and our favorite, but it doesn't warm up until July and that's only if it's a nice warm summer!

I'd give names of the lake, but then you guys would all travel up here and crowd me out! I'd have to share the boat ramp! :)

We travel about 20 minutes/20 miles to Mission Bay or San Diego Bay usually.....we sometimes travel to lake thats about 25 miles away, it takes about 30 min. I'm getting sketchy about it though because the water level is low and the ramp isnt in great shape. I once slid down the whole thing! Its about 100 yards down a steep slope. Scary stuff right there!:smt009

Yearly trip......6 hours a few hundred miles and we're relaxing on beautiful Lake Havasu!

20mins 10 to 15 miles tops looking to expand to 100 miles from home and see the Narragansett Bay and Watch Hill areas

Destination vary, but our favorites for a regular weekend:

Folsom Lake - 3 miles, 5 minutes
Sacramento River (Miller Park, Downtown) - 22 miles 25 minutes
The Delta (Brannan Island, Rio Vista) - 50 miles, 70 minutes
Lake Oroville - 75 miles, 90 minutes
San Francisco Bay (Loch Lomond Marina, San Rafael) - 75 miles, 90 minutes

about 30 miles...takes about an hour with a food & gas stop on the way.

I wish I could say I don't have go anywhere because I live on the lake/river but thats not the case. When my oldest started to play baseball/basketball/football I new we wouldn't have mucht time for the long weekends like we used to. We bought some land on the river when my boys were all young. It is about 35 miles from my house so day trips and overnighters are done fairly easier. Looking to get a boat lift so it will be even better.

About 75 feet backwards and about 75 feet forwards, not fancy but I have a boat ramp out the back gate.

Not quite as close as Midway, but I only have to go about 1/4 or 1/2 mile depending on the ramp du jour. (One ramp is much better at low tide.) Takes me about two minutes.

The next boat will have an OB, which will likely make me an ex-trailer boater.

What do you do with your boat on those overnighters?

two boat ramps 5-6 miles apart or north for the one going to San Juan Islands...35 miles...

For us, It's about:
8 miles and 15-20 minutes to enjoy the Puget Sound.
About 50 miles to Anacortes(1 hour or slightly over) for excellant access to the San Juan Islands and Canadian Gulf Islands
Marysville, WA to Anacortes, WA

We don't go on short weekends. When we do go, it is 350 miles- Tucson to Kino Bay, Mexico. 8.5 hours, if you are lucky with customs, immigration, cows, etc. We stay on the water 7-8 days and go to Baja Calif. No Coast Guard, no Marinas, no gas, no people, lots of fish, clams, birds, Etc.

Lake Mead = 25 miles = 35 minutes. I have 3 day weekends so about 150 miles a weekend. Man I never thought about this thats alot of miles, I guess when you are going boating who cares!!!

Sleep on it, of course! Sorry, couldn't resist...

some lakes have boat-in campsites, they can be pretty neat.

160 miles a year with the boat. Then down to the marina every weekend 80 miles one way April-Oct.

Just Right... hope you do not mind if I copy :) I will add 2 more for the Folsom folks

Shasta Lake - 190 Miles, 3.5 hours
Lake Tahoe (North) - 125 Miles, 2.5 hours

Sea Ray 280 - no problem. Haven't taken a big boat to Tahoe, but have two trips planned to Camp Richardson: one in June for the MM get together and another over the 4th (bunch of families with kids). I thought it was only about 80 miles, but that 2.5 hours can be wishful thinking on the weekends: Sometimes it's taken me up to 2 hours just to go from Truckee to the lake!

I didn't mention Shasta because with 370 miles shoreline, seems there is only about 10 miles of sandy beaches and the rest is steep banks for rocky red mud that scratches and stains the bow. Of course if I could tie up to a houseboat - that would be nice!

I would like to visit Trinity (4-5 hours)and New Hogan (> 2hrs), just need a few more weekends ini the year...
