hole for transducer cable

Well I drilled the holes today for the transducer and the one through the hull went fine and I sealed it well with 5200 on the inside and out. The only thing that I am worried about is the holes for the two screws that actually holds the transducer itself on were fairly deep due to the long screws and it felt like one of the holes went all the way through the transom. I can get to the back side of it to see because of the way the fiberglass is molded on the inside. The transducer is located just to the inside of the trailer pad. I put 5200 all over the screw then screwed it in but the head of the screw does not make contact with the transom because of the bracket so there is a gap there. How can I tell if water is getting in there. Is there space between the transom and the fiberglass molded on the inside? I guess I can put it in the water in a couple days and pull it out to see if a lot of water comes out of the drain. If so what do I do then. Just kinda nervous.

Drill the hole but first put some duct tape inside and fill the hole with resin. this will get into the wood making it somewhat water proof so the transom dosent start rotting.then redrill the correct size hole, install wiring, some 5200, and a clamshell.
