Hello Everyone,
It is great ot be here on CSR.
Just got my first Sea Ray last summer and I love it. Its a 1995 400EC with 3116 turbo diesels. Great in lake Michigan waters. The cock-pit seats are in need of replacement, the helm seat is broke and reclines as is the pass side.
Many other small projects.

Does anyone have leads for seats or seat repair?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

ANDY@SBC,

Welcome to the site!

You may try ebay, craigslist. Your best bet may be a local SR dealer.

congratulations and good luck on your "upgrades".

Not sure where you slip your boat on Lake Michigan, but North Shore Marina in Grand Haven, Michigan is a full service marina that restores boats to as new condition. They are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for; the project(s) will look factory new when completed. I've seen them rebuild everything from classic wooden Chris Chrafts to 60 foot steel Roamers. Fiberglass work is excellent. Your needs would be easily addressed by the staff there. Welcome to the board.

I have a 1998 400EC and the helm seat was reclining about 4 inches. I had a local boat Upholstery shop break it down and rebuild to new using existing cover. Cost was 100.00. He said this is not the first one that he has seen. He used fiberglass to reinforce seat back to seat bottom.

Welcome to the board Andy, you will want to put your boat information (year, model, motor, etc) in your signature.

I missed the part where he said he was a Rockefeller!

There are some great upohlstery guys. Don't rule out car guys as they may not advertise they also do boats.

purchasing a 400EC indicates he may have a little extra jingle in his pockets! One thing he didn't mention was how original he wanted to keep his boat. Some folks are anal (is that o.k. to say) about OEM parts for their equipment, so I thought to mention dealer.

welcome aboard. I would think a good local canvas/upholstery shop can fix you up right as well

Thanks everyone! Some realy good ideas. I will check the auto seat business also.
I took one of the seats apart and the frame is made from molded plastic so the fiberglass reinforcement sounds like the way to go.

I was just kidding. more of a dig on the dealers!

I know! Didn't mean to make you feel guilty.

he'll just have less left over for fishing gear!

You can very seldom get parts like that from Sea Ray. A good local auto or marine upholstery guy should be able to make it look "factory"

If you go to a boat yard, they are just going to call one and mark it up but they may know who the good ones are.

Not all boat yards do this. We have several in this area that do all of their own work.

I had the same problem with my 95 370's port side seat. I removed the covering and foam and used the pices of the rotten plywood base as patterns for a new base made out of marine plywood that I then totally encapsulated in fiberglass. I put the original foam and cover back on and have not had a problem since. I see quite a few boats like this on Yachtworld with the seats rotted out and leaning back. Lousy design by Sea Ray. I had the same problem with the cockpit seating on my 95 290 DA and had to do the same repair.
