Help, lost my underwater exhaust outlet

Is the through bolt still in the engine room? Make sure that is not leaking but I used our boat for a week while we waited.

I went for weeks/months with mine missing. I have replaced it twice. By design it is meant to break off and not sink your boat. If you are hauling soon and don't have any water intrusion into your E.R. you should be OK, I suffered no ill effects during the time mine were missing.

Thanks for the response. These things aren’t cheap! Anyone have an Opinion on used vs new? Can get a used one for 500 less than new.

14 years ago it was $500 last year it was $1,000. If I could find a used one I would get it.

I purchased one off of Ebay for $500 but now I have to figure out how it is attached. Any help would be appreciated.

I ended up getting one off of eBay and I’ve yet to install it. However, mine has 4 holes that line up with the screws that held the previous one. Have to go back inside and look, but it appears the screws are only into the hull and there is no through bolt into the bilge. I’ll go back and check the other side.

Trust me there is one thru bolt with a green wire on it.

Do I have to use brass hardware or can I use stainless steel bolts to secure it?

Finally got to work on replacing this exhaust port. Located the through bolts. My boat has three through bolts and I guess one wood screw was used in the 4 th hole…. Had to remove the cable master drum and guide arm to get access to the through bolts. Used a second nut on top of the first nut and was able to back the studs out. Figuring to use 4200 on the base of the exhaust port and along the hul. Is that enough, just a layer of 4200 and put the bolts back through and tighten?

Yes, but I only have 1 thru bolt for the bonding wire and 3 screws with 4200.
