Hello all, glad to be aboard. I live in Melbourne, Fl. and have a 1981 Sea Ray SRV 255. It's a 26' sedan bridge with ALMOST new 3.0 Mercruisers. I keep the boat at Harbortown Marina, near Port Canaveral. I just followed the link to the Sea Ray site and found the video for the Zeus drives, and most of it was filmed in my playground, at Harbortown and near by. My first mate and I saw the docking footage being filmed about a month ago. We do some river cruising, and offshore fishing out of Port Canaveral when I can get the boat, crew, and weather all to cooperate. I have had the boat for about three years, and do my own work, which is a lot on a 27 year old boat. Recently repowered from 120 Mercruisers to new 3.0's, and that was a very interesting project. I'm looking forward to meeting some new friends here, and hope to be able to contribute whatever information and experience I can.

Welcome to CSR! I'm sure you've tired of hearing, "Nothing works on an old boat except its owner". Glad to see you're keeping the vintage class making a wake.

If you get a chance, post a picture of your boat. I can't picture a 26' Sedan Bridge.

Again, welcome to the board.

A very nice first post, welcome to CSR!!! You will find a great group here that enjoy talking boats. Again welcome to the board.

Welcome from one new mwmber to another. I am on the other side of the country but I get down your way for business and I sure like it. I also have an older boat and in just a week I have picked up several tip and advise for issues on our boat.

I think you're going to like this site.

Welcome seabreze53,

You live in one of my favorite vacation spots.

Thanks for the welcome, all. I'll be adding a picture soon, been too busy working on the boat . Right now I'm rebuilding my engine hatch, just finished rebuilding my trim cylinders, and will be installing my new Lowrance LMF 400 for fuel management this weekend. The only way I can afford such a fine vessel as a Sea Ray is to do my own work. Luckily, that's part of the pleasure for me.

Seabreeze,

I really like those old 255's. You can't get a bigger 25 foot boat. Also, they are actually very stable compared to most sedan bridges of that size.

In general, I like most of the '80's Sea Rays. I spent over 4 years going through every bit of my '83 260. It is a completely different boat than the one I bought. Being able to do your own work brings the cost of boating waaaay down. If I was paying someone else for maintenance/repairs/improvements, I would not be able to justify the expense.

Plus, I am seldom pleased with the quality of work most mechanics provide.

Welcome aboard, Sorry it took so long to welcome you.(Grin) I must have missed your post on the 30th. Hope to pick your brain for some local info in the future. I've been laying out/dreaming about a FL East Coast trip. I have not been able to find a good resort/hotel around your area that I could dock MS Judy at that has on-site rooms. I'm sure I have just missed it.

Hello, Chuck. I think Captain Hirams in Sebastian has both docking and rooms, real nice place.

From what I've found you are right. I've already got that as the next stop over. The plan/dream as it stand now around your area is:

Stop at Riverview Hotel north of you. (Ponce DeLeon Inlet Area)
Stop at Titusville/Coco/Canaveral. (Canaveral Inlet Area)
Stop at Hiram Resort south of you.(Sebastian Inlet Area)

Just have not been able to find a dock/resort marina with in 5 or so miles of Canaveral. It may have to be one of the stop over that we have to take a taxi to the resort/hotel.

I've been dreaming/working on the trip for some time. We plan to start in GA (St Simmons) and run all the way to the keys. stopping over every 50-100 miles. Most of the time laying it out via Inlets so we can go either inside or outside depending on the weather.

Hello, again, Chuck. There are about 3 or 4 marinas at Port Canveral, which is about 5 minutes from Cocoa Beach- tourist central. The marina I keep my boat at is Harbortown, on the barge canal between the Port and Indian River-ICW. Don't forget that from here you can hit the Beachline, SR 528, and get to Orlando in about 1 hour- lots of neat stuff. If you go to the Sea Ray site and watch the video for the Zeus drives, the marina they used is Harbortown, and the scenery is local.
