Well, I hope for a good game. the last SEC team we played was Arkansas in dallas and that did not go well for us. I can't remember the SEC team that the Ags beat. we have a VERY young team so if the Buldogs come out swinging it may be lights out and another lossing campain for the Ags.

The line today (12/14) is Georgia by 7.

That is pretty optimistic in the betting world. I have high hopes, but hey, it's just a college foot ball game. There is always next year. Heck, the dawgs might even have a chance at beating Florida now that T-Bone Cryer :smt089 ain't there any longer. :smt101

It is next year's heisman winner the the buldogs need to worry about...

May not be a good time to not have a D coodinator on the sideline....Gig'em!

Roll Tide Roll!!!

Roll Tide Roll !! Well it's been a great year in for the Tide...BCS Champs and a Heisman win for Mark Ingram!!:smt038

Been 15 years since our last National Title...I think we're on a roll...and 4 in a row for the SEC!!!

God speed to Colt McCoy on his recovery.

ROOOOLLLLL TIDE!!!
concerning Sprink's "God speed to Colt McCoy on his recovery"
I'm an emergency physician and I was quite concerned with Colt's injury. I watched the mechanism of injury, a mastodon in a helmet hitting his right ribs, and couldn't think of what would cause this particular injury pattern- an ability to move his arm but with no feeling in it. The most obvious would have been a brachial plexus tear but that requires a tremendous down force on the shoulder and that didnt happen. Also a brachial plexus injury would most likely been career ending. Today on a sports site in the internet, it said he actually has had the injury twice before in his career and it is a pinched nerve in his neck and the jarring of the collision caused the acute worsening. Initial treatment is time and rest and anti-inflammatory meds and he should bounce back quite well. I feel better about him now.

Thanks for that update Doc....I feel better as well. As I watched the replay of that hit...it didn't look like a big deal to me. I thought about a pinched nerve based on Colt's statement about numbness.

I suspect that this re-occurrence of that injury is cause for concern for him and also for prospective NFL scouts.

We wish him well.

i do agree that alabama has had a great season, but i honestly believe they would have lost if colt was in. I think they came in very cocky and did not perform nearly as good as they have in the past(i.e fake punt). The reason i say that is because of all the sacks UT got on Bama. I think they will be back next year as long as they dont perform the way they did Thursday night.

On the contrary..they weren't cocky at all and were very respectful of a very strong Texas team.

The Alabama offense had 225 yards rushing against the Texas defense that had previously averaged allowing 62.5 yards per game. No other team Texas has played has done as well...this had no bearing on whether Colt McCoy was present. The Texas defense shut down our passing game but Alabama has a decent balance in the offense so we were able to adjust. Not a bad offensive performance considering Greg McLeroy played with 2: cracked ribs.

The fact the Colt McCoy was injured early was significant...however don't sell Gilbert short because in the second half he rose to the occasion and had 186 yards passing with 2: touchdowns. McCoy's sudden absence changed the way both teams played the game. The Alabama game plan was built around McCoy being a big factor...we adjusted in the second half to a very aggressive Texas offense that was fighting for their lives. There were many people that said we would never beat Florida as long as Tim Tebow was playing also...we handled them reasonably well I think....as do many others.

Roll Tide.

oh but if Colt had of been in, it probably would have been at least 10 zip if not 14 zip. If bama had to have passed more.. well.. (ribs I understand) but the best quarterback in the second half was a freshman. I hate texass... (and should've would've , could've) but I was not all that impressed with Bama's defense. Agressive Texas offense?? wow.. not even.. don't you love college football. :smt001

Alabama played the game to win. With McCoy out they played very conservatively, ran the ball to the tune of 2 100+ yard rushers. They really walked all over Texas defense with the run game. If McCoy had played I think the score would have been different (higher on both sides) but the result would be the same, Alabama wins. I sure hope he recovers and the injury isn't recurring.

Alabama did the same to Florida's run defense, the running game beat Flrodia and then Texas. SEC never loses a title game, and Alabama holds up and proves the SEC is the best of the best. What are they 7-0 now?

BTW don't count the Gators out next year, Brantley (the backup QB) broke Tebows High School records, and is probably a better passer than Tebow.

I still think Toby Gerhart was screwed. He posted much better numbers and was much more important to Stanford than Ingram was to Alabama!

At least it was nice to see a Stanford player good enough to be considered. It's been a long time!

I think a very strong argument could be made for Florida to be No. 2....but I'm a SEC guy so I'm biased...admittedly.

I have heard it said by several sports journalist over the past few weeks that the return of Alabama to prominence creates a classic team rivalry of National as well as Regional significance...Alabama vs. Florida

As for BCS Titles...the SEC now has 4 consecutive with 2: for Florida and one each for LSU and Alabama. Look for more strong SEC teams to rise to the top with Arkansas and Bobby Petrino as well as Mississippi/Mississippi State. Throw Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee in the mix and in a year or 2 we could see 5 of the top 10 teams all from the SEC.

I think ESPN recognizes this and is behind their belief with the $2 Billion+ TV deal with the SEC.

Gentlemen...this is serious business...go SEC.

sprink you could not have hit the nail better, next year and years to come we will most likely see 5 top 10 sec teams. I am also a big sec fan(UGA) and nothing compares to the rivalry and game play of the sec teams.

If you are like me you will love this..."Bama fans chanting SEC...SEC...SEC in the Rose Bowl.

As a Georgia Fan you know...It's much more than a conference...it's part of our heritage.

I'll defer this one to ESPN...they probably have a bit more insight on this than I do.

We do play out of conference, 7-0 national championships. No one from any conference has beat a SEC team in the BCS national championship game!! I agree 5 out of 10 is a bit, but 3 or maybe 4 out of 10 is reasonable. Heck one year the state of Florida had 3 of the top 5, Florida St, Miami and the Gators. Look at the SEC, Florida, Alabama, LSU, Tenn, Georgia, Auburn and now Ark or Miss could have a national champ contender, many already have championships and many have multiple championships. Don't think any other conference even comes close in modern times. I think the reason is the SEC values defense as well as offense and when the high powered offenses come up against a tough defense the defense usually wins. The other conferences don't have the defensive depth that the SEC has, so the high powered offenses don't play against tough defenses game in game out. Look at what Florida did to Ohio State, then Oklahoma's Bradley and then Cin. Heck I remember last year many saying that Tebow and the Gators weren't even in the top 4 of the Big 12.....didn't hear much after the BCS title game!!! The SEC offenses don't put up big numbers because they play against SEC defenses all year, and are designed and forced to be conservative...but sometimes when they get up against another defense sometimes they can light the scoreboard up with the best of them. Example Florida's Tebow record setting 533yd performance against Cin, Florida agaisnt Oklahoma and Bradley and Ohio State. Nebraska had a good defense against Texas, similar I believe to the SEC defenses and McCoy had a difficult game. Someone said the SEC is closer to the NFL in playing style that other conferences and I believe this to be true.

This is why I like college sports, especially football and basketball. Today, these kids don't paid, have to do well in class, and get a chance on the field. Just look at the finialist in the Heismann Trophy, what a great group of young men!!

College is all I can watch anymore..

and congrats Tide... One of the best road trips ever a few years ago to the Oklahoma/Bama game.. was looking for a parking spot when some Bams fans directed us in and met us at the car door with a cold one. and it only got better the rest of the day.
