Harbor freight

Most of their stuff is ChiComm garbage. I've bought hand tools that broke after two light-duty uses but have some stuff that has lasted an eternity. It's hit or miss but at least if it breaks, you don't complain as much when you spent $6.99 for it. Almost like renting tools

I've bought a few things from there that don't have moving parts. I bought their 7" rotary buffer, it lasted 3 hours. I took it back and bought a Makita. I have bought a fuse kit that has a decent assortment. I have also bought some stainless screws, and cheap sandpaper. That's all I really trust them for though. I have seen some Meguiar's polish and wax there in the past, but I haven't seen it lately.

I just returned an air compressor that lasted 30min. Still, they gave me a new one and I purchased a 2.5yr warranty....

Like others have said, it's mostly junk with the occassional jewel.

My primary tools at home are better.

My onboard tool kit is cheap stuff.

The best and cheapest hand tools both sink when dropped in the water.

Wish harbor freight carried parts for my magma grills. Dang, one lost part cost a lot. Don’t ask me how I know this.

like other have said good and bad.. bought a plastic rivit tool to put some stuff on my car only needed it for the one job. But power tools no way all junk..

I LOVE Harbor Freight. Yeah their stuff is mostly cheap junk and as already been said it's not to be used on heavy duty work.

My tools at home are all Craftsman. On the boat they're Harbor Freight. I don't mind so much making my annual spring donations of tools to Poseidon when they came from Harbor Freight. The area of my slip beneath my boat would probably drive a metal detector crazy. Doesn't bother me when they're cheap tools.

l....... But power tools no way all junk..

Todd tried the $35 rotary polishing tool and it crapped out on him.

I got my boat done and am happy with the $35 Chicago Electric tool.

I’ll keep using it and see how long it lasts.

Even if it’s dead when I go to use it next I feel I already got my money’s worth.

In doing the boat one time with a rotary I learned a lot and now I’m a believer.

its a great place, bought a lot of stuff from them... But do not buy a torque wrench from them... The Torque wrench I bought did not work and I snapped two expensive screws...

Yeah if it's still spinning the wool around that's great. After 3 hours I just wanted to get the job done rather than run back and forth to HF, so I got the Makita. If it still works for you, good on ya. If you've had it for years you're money ahead and can just replace it if it does die.

Todd, who stocks a Makita? I did look at home depot and lowes. Both had grinders in stock but not polishers.

You have to pick and choose which tool you purchase from

Them.

I have a 1/2 drive Pittsburg torque wrench that I use weekly

that's just fine, over 10 years young.

I picked uo their boom hoist, modified it and now it lifts out

my 700lb polaris jet skis into the back yard.

I have their close angle ( 5°) rat-****ting highy polished

combo wrenches on the boat, metric & sae with alot of

THEIR other tools.

I have their 2 1/2" - 5 " hole saw kit @ 4.99. I've cut thru

more extruded alum. with their saws than I would ever get

from a Geenfield or others. When it's shot I'll get another.

When you have your boat seviced by the PROS each year

they "talk the talk"

Everybody is out to make the BIG BUCKS!

If you don't do it yourslf, your at their mercy!

Auf Wiedersehen

P.S. All work on the boat is catorizwd

I bought a set of ballpien hammers from them once for the farm...as I was beating on the anvil, the hammer handle slipped out of the rubber grip, went airborne and hit my pickup...it was a scene from a 3 Stooges episode...guess I was Moe...

NO HF wrenches for me, knuckle busting shi+

P.S. Have multiple pictures of each task.

You will never get 1/2 the stuff they have on sale on the front and back of their flyers. Their % of order completion has been about 50% for me and that won't cut it. If I need something, I need it and don't have time for guessing games.

I used to buy all the top names on stuff, but found after I used them once or twice, I would loose them. Now when I buy from harbor, I get my job done and if it breaks , get lost, who cares, it was cheap enough.

Just went down and picked up the $50 7" polisher on sale for $35. Will try it out this weekend.

I have that polisher and it seems good enough. For $50, if it lasts only 2 years I can deal with it. If it lasts 6 months that's a different deal. I have never been one for cheap tools trust me! I started my career in the electrical union and if you show up with crap tools they will pretty much throw them away for you. For using occasionally on the boat HF tools are usually good enough. I do agree that things like wrenches should be high quality to save your knuckles.
