Guns in Canada

I have trained with people that could do a lot of damage with a machete or even a knife. Problem is the gun free mentality only makes the criminal safe.
Not when the police have H&K MP5’s. Most of the gun crime is intergang fighting for territory gains, they can kill each other all day long. It’s when an innocent gets caught in the crossfire that hits the media people get upset.

Wasn't there a mass knifing there several years ago? IIRC 9 people were stabbed/slashed before the officers who were actually authorized to carry guns got on the scene and shot the assailant.

I prefer the acid attacks.

Funny thing--in 1970 I was in the USAF and was transferred from my base in TX to Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage.

Of course, that was WAAAAAY before the internet, Google, etc., so no way to easily find information on what laws were there about transportation of firearms in and out of Canada.

IIRC, when we crossed the border into CA I had two handguns, a shotgun and a rifle in the car. I presented my USAF transfer paperwork to the CA Customs guy, he never asked any questions and just waved us on our way.

Leaving CA 4 years later, pretty much the same thing. I probably had one more rifle in the car, but again, no questions asked about weapons.

Times were much simpler then.

And, no more dangerous.

Woody, we are boating up into the North Channel. M
I've never explored the North Channel but know lots that have. I know shit can happen anywhere but it's not a bad area to boat, you'll meet lots of good people, the lack of a gun shouldn't be a worry there.

My trips into Canada have only been up to Thunder Bay. Beautiful up there also. There were some shady characters to be seen in the AM when walking back to the boat from the casino but the daytime people were all friendly nice folks.

It's more remembering to take my gun off of the boat than worrying about having one for defense. If it was simple paperwork, I'd do it. Instead I will have to remember to take my pistol out of it's hidey hole. The group I am going with are all gun owners and would target practice together if we could.
