The marina where I dry store my boat has been foreclosed on. I received a letter today and it said a new owner was taking over. This is all well and good but the large fork lift got taken also. Now they cannot lift my boat from the rack to the water.

They say it will be 2-3 weeks before they will have a fork lift that can lift my boat.

Sad thing is I have my condo for the next 3 weeks and cannot get my boat.

They said they will adjust my bill. I go not give a rats a$$ about the bill I want my BOAT!!!!!!

See if they (rigging company) can't get it moved to your trailer or slip.??
Sorry to hear.

I would be asking them ...

Why they're not renting one for that 2 to 3 weeks waiting time on getting their forklift.

Is your boat the only one stuck on the rack ??

Really, where is this, Greenland? 3 weeks, no boat, in August......that's crazy....I would rent a truck crane if they don't have a better option than "wait"......

Nope mine is not the only one. It is on the top rack inside the building. Forklift is the only way to get it

Is there another marina close by with a forklift that could get your boat down for ya ??.

I would be HOT, but most likely they wont do anything , find out where the forklift went to and see if you can rent it or make a lift for you.

I got this photo from the manufacturer's site, so I don't know how clear it is going to be, but these are not lift trucks you can borrow down the street or rent from Penske. They are specialty lifts, made to order, have a lift capacity of about 35 feet up and can lower the forks about 12 ft. below the level the truck tires are on...........the big kicker is that they are tall, wide and weight something like 90,0000 lbs with counterweights. It usually takes 2- 18 wheelers to move one. Honestly, 2-3 week is probably breaking a land speed record for getting a used one.

I think the OP's best outcome is to complain every day, keep the pressure on, raise hell with the bank, make a general nuisance of himself and hope it helps speed the process and makes the marina want to treat him right on his dry stack rental.

Yep, and if the previous owner was foreclosed on, then more than likely the forklift was repossessed, and probably before the new owner had an opportunity to do any deals to keep it. Doesn't sound like the new owners have caused it, and the last thing they would want to do having just taken over the business, would be having to do deals to reduce storage rates, or to disgruntled tenants.

The crux of it as the op said is the previous owner was foreclosed on, the beef should be aimed at them

Judgeing by those here who have had experience with this type storage arrangement, probably not any way to get your boat down much sooner than already promised. Meanwhile I would be seeing if it is possiable your boat can be held until property lien holders and others with claims against previous owner are satisfied. If paying a lawer isn't somthing you want to do,try asking a local judge, state attorney or similar what AL state law alows. It's possiable the"NEW OWNER"is in reality a bankruptcy court appointed reciever and that the lift disappearing was planed. I would at minium check property records , assumed names registeration and tax records to see if ownership actualy transferred.

This is the company that took over the marina! www.coastalmarinamanagement.com I did talk to the president yesterday whose phone number is posted on the website and they were appointed by Regions bank to run the facility. He says he is trying to find a fork lift. He sounded like her cared but it still does not help me with not being able to use my boat. Regions bank is the one who foreclosed and I know the president and he is going to get a call on Monday morning. The old owner also has another facility down the street but going to see him will not do anything. I guess this weekend is a wash and I will start calling toward the end of next week and be nice but concerned.

Today is my birthday great birthday present!

At the least if this drags out over 2 weeks I am going to ask for a major discount when they ask me to sign a new agreement with the new company. I really do not want to move the boat to another location as this one is very close to my condo.

Oh yea the other boat I use my dads formula 292 is in the same place. Guess I will be land locked for a couple of weeks.

Hop a plane to Cleveland and we'll take Aftica out...

When we are all done you can send the new owners a bill for use of a "Rental" boat...

Happy birthday man!

Frank is spot on here!

Back in the day I maintained Skipper Buds lift in Milwaukee. Big bad Taylor lift. (I worked for a service company not Buds)I was certified to remove and weld new pins in the mast fork swivels. 5 inch round pins about 18-24 inches long. If you slip at SB's and see this lift check for my stamp in the mast WLA and the date.

2-3 weeks is amazing time to get one of these.

Bud's machine was down and I was working on it. This guy asks me how long I'm going to be and I tell him to check with the service manager as I was under the machine not wanting to be bothered. After a bit I went to the managers office and asked who the guy was that was poking around in the service bay. He said it was Bob Uecker wanting his 35 out. It doesn't matter who you are, when the lift is down you wait.

All this info doesn't get you in the water any faster though. Hope you can salvage the 3 weeks.

Regions is a reputable company. They do not want bad press since it drastically affects their loan and retail business. Don't wait.......get to someone at Regions Monday and stress the public relations nightmare they have created. If they also have the paper on the lift truck it is very likely that some "guy with a tie" who knows nothing about boats or marinas just signed a repo order on the lift. Next step is to contact local newspapers in the area and start talking. These lifts don't sell fast so somebody with some brains (good luck on that one) in Regions loan department may see the wisdom in leasing the lift to Coastal Marina Mgt. short term.

Coastal Marina Mgt is a good firm and they manage a lot of marina properties in the area so maybe they can explain the problem to Regions and rent the original lift back or perhaps borrow one next week from a nearby marina. Scott Burt is running the company now and he understands the process since he been in our marina management and brokerage for 20+ years. Also, this is a company that is partially owned by the Galati family. I think Joe jr. is involved with CMM and they are first class folks. As a result, I am not nearly as worried about your situation as I was yesterday when we thought Regions had just hired a guy to run the place for them.

But keep the pressure on.......! Don't overlook the value of referring Regions to this website. We have 26,500 members who are reading how this was mis-handled and Regions is a big bank in the coastal areas down here.
