Tailsman has a ferry dock which when I was last there, they say is not in use anymore. Great to drop off people and gear. Although hemlock is a stones throw away from me and where I go every other week to Cedar beach :)

Alright, no more fooling around. since the poll is so close and I started it I'm deciding we go to TALISMAN. And i'm probably staying at Watch hill that night. IF ANYONE ELSE WANTS TO JOIN THE OFFICIAL RAFT UP , THEN SIGN UP!!!

The vote response is interesting, lets talk Hemlock.

Does anybody find this place buggy during the day? I don't go often (only a few times), but every time, i.m attached by black bugs. I'm not sure if I anchored in the wrong spot, coincidentally picked days with marsh blowing winds, or is it just the norm?

The last time I was there, was 2 or 3 weeks before Memorial day. The bugs where so bad, it was like a carpet on the canvas. After 5 minutes, we had to pull the anchor and split. Does anybody else have the same experiences?

the bugs have been terrible at our marina in seaford and also at zachs
the sand flies black flies, everything
we come back with welts.
geez

I see Hemlock is pulling ahead in the poll but considering the BUG problems maybe its not a great time to go there. We have been attacked everytime this season and we go different times of the day. Besides i'm tired of running my boat for a 10 min run to hemlock, I want to run it for a while thats a great part of boating for me operating the boat. why not travel for 35-45 mins to Talisman it's nice to explore other parts of the bay

Hey Joe,
I'm still interested but waiting on my inlaws to decide if they are having people over for my neices BD. They always do but, she broke her wrist 2 weeks ago and is in a cast up to her shoulder. I am a man in limbo. I will be @ Watch Hill this weekend, Anyone else going?? Todd

Todd - The weather report for Saturday is iffy. I'm thinking of just doing a Sunday day trip. Let me know if your staying the full day. Post or PM your boat name, I'll swing by to say hello.

What a great survey. I spent so much time at Zachs and Hemlock when I was a kid and now I spend just about every weekend at Talisman. When noone was around we used to waterski in those coves when I was a kid with my 13' whaler or a friend's Zodiac.
Hemlock has a great surf spot just across on the the Ocean side.
Talisman is fun now for me with a bigger boat because you can anchor, keep the bow in 1-2 feet of water and keep the engines in 4-5 feet at the same time. It's a little tricky to figure out where the sandbars are but if you just follow the crowd you should be alright.
Zachs is fun on a friday or saturday night when there's a concert at Jones Beach, sometimes you can hear the music. In the old days you could get much closer but in the mid-80's they put up barricades so you are just out of earshot. If there's a Jimmy Buffet concert - forget it, Zach's bay is one giant party.

are we on for Talisman saturday? if so, is there a channel that we should use to communicate on and is there a time fram for the raft up?
we are probably going to spend the night @ watch hill. since that would be a first time for us, is there any special logistics needed to secure a spot?
thanksron

I am out for Saturday. I have a kiddie BD party to go to. Yippeee!! I would call Watch Hill Tower sat morn around 8 am and keep calling until you get through to reserve a spot. I was there last weekend and it was filled up pretty early. The phone number is 631 597 3109. I think they take reservations until they are 1/2 full then its "catch as catch can!" You will need a credit card to reserve and they will charge you weather you show up or not. Enjoy the day guys!!!! Todd

Guys... I will be in Watch Hill from Thurs -> Sunday! Anyone else going? Hope to see some CSR peeps there!!

Hey Todd - I was hoping to run in to you. I strolled down A pier, and saw your boat, but it looked a bit locked up. I figured if you were getting sticky down below :wow::lol:, and I wasn't going to interrupt. Truth of the matter is I would have called your cell if I brought the number :smt021

I did meet Brian down on D dock. Looked like a nice B day party going on there. Real nice to meet you, and thanks for the tour of your gorgeous 44 sedan

Well with three kids 2-6 on board the only way I was getting "sticky" was if they spilled a juice box or something like it! :lol:LOL:lol:
I checked out D-dock on friday but I didn't think Brians boat was there. Sorry I missed you guys. Todd
