The purpose of this posting is to express my gratitude for all the "wise" advice I got here before pulling the trigger on my first SR.

For those of you who hang out here almost daily, you may have noticed me posting many questions on many topics.

Well .................. I've finally made a decision, which my wife sometimes says I take FOREVER to do.

I'm taking delivery of a 2007 250 SLX with 0.8 hours on it!! The boat is in Greenville, SC where its been on the showroom floor all it life (or at least that's what "CJ" says!) and I'm buying it from the local SR dealer here (Larry Carson, Hall Marine Group).

I asked many questions in this forum about pre-owned boats (both SR and Cobalt) as well as buying new. Also, asking about whether to buy from my local SR dealer or not.

I actually followed the advice of others here on how to get the best deal and it just about worked out just like the "posters" here said it would!!

I've owned boats for about 20 years, but never owned a SR. Looking forward to it!

Anyway ....................... bottom line ...................... I am grateful to all who offered me advice and many aspects of the deal that I got and the options on the boat that I got, I owe to each of you.

THANK YOU and am looking forward to lurking around here for more advice as the years go by. I'll post pictures once I take delivery. For now, all I can post is what the dealer in Greenville sent me. There were many others, but I'll only do one.

In debt to you .......

Contratulations! That is a beautiful boat.

I ran one with a pewter hull in Fla a week or so ago and I can tell you that the SLX is also one of the better performing and handling boats in the line as well.

But I have a problem with something you said in your post..........now that you bought the boat, no more lurking allowed. Get active in the forum, ask questions and share your experiences and you will see that CSR allows you to extend your boating from weekends to 7 days a week and we get to enjoy the new boat with you!

Congrats - the forum is a great way to learn more about your boat and sharing info with others looking at boats.

Enjoy :smt038

Doug,
Congrats for sure.
Like Frank Said, don't be shy, let's hear from you more.
Like the "Tubes" said in the late 80's "She's a beauty, sh'es one in a million girls".
I love the color and speaking from experience, get out the polisher.....and keep her that way.

Nice !

Welcome to the family Doug!
You have a beautiful boat and I'm glad to hear you bought locally...in the long run you will be happier!
Have a great time taking delivery....and tell your wife this will be the easiest delivery she will ever have! BTW, big decision DO take a lot of time!

Congrats!

Congrats Doug.

It's okay to lurk as long as you were boating instead of posting.

Have a CAVU Week buddy.

Congrats. What does she have for power?

She has the 320hp engine (middle choice that is available). I almost pulled the trigger on one with the 375hp, but it wasn't local.

Nice combo. The 2 that I have been around both had 6.2s without the arch. It should have plenty of low end grunt. Pay attention to how it's propped during you acceptance run. I believe 5,200 RPM is the upper end for the 6.2 - check your manual. The ones I was around could exceed 5,200. I wish I could remember the propset pitch for each boat.

Doug ................congratulations on the purchase. The 250 SLX is a beautiful boat. . And you will like Hall Marine too. There are quite a few of us on the board who have bought our boats from Hall Marine and almost to a person we are unanymous in saying they really treat their customers well.

Please post more pictures after the boat is delivered.

Congratulations Doug on your purchase. I am glad that things worked out for you in the loooooooooooooong run. You will be glad you bought your boat local as Hall Marine will take good care of you.

We expect to see you next time we have a get together in Charleston.

You can count on it!!

Exceptionally fine looking ride - love the arch/T-top combo - really sets it apart from the herd. Good luck.

Same color and same engine as my 270 SLX! I happen to love the color and the 6.2 is plenty of engine even in the 270. You'll love the boat!

To take care of that colored hull, wax it twice a season with a top quality wax like Meguire's Flagship and wipe it down with Griot's Speedshine and microfibre towels after every outing. I do that and people often ask me "what do you use on your boat?"
