Hi,

as I am trying to figure out what to do with the chartplotter in my "next" boat - i'm working on a size reference. And I thought - even though it is not complete - I'd share it - and maybe get some feedback on the ones I have not put in yet.

So treat this as an "alpha list"

best regards

Kasper
PS: Seems like Garmin have not launched any new GPS/Chartplotters in AGES.. So when are the new models coming out? :)

Kaz, something to think about before you buy a new GPS/plotter is...."How user friendly is it?"

I had a Simrad system on my last boat and while it was a phenominal system, it was not very user friendly. From what I hear, Garmins are about the most intuitive and user friendly with Raymarine products close behind.

Simrad also has one of the best "daylight visible" screens.

Wow, very nice. You need an equivalent table converted to english units for us over here...

Yes - I am a Garmin fan - but all the current models are outdated. So I'm thinking of holding off until a complete model refresh. I know I'll possibly get some flack from saying that - but I don't want to pay full (current) price to put 2 1/2 - 5 year old products in my boat. But Admiral like's Garmin Auto Guidance - so what can you do.....

it is more meant as a comparison table. Find what you have now - and then you can check the list for what you can put in without major surgery. But after doing the list I found out that there are no such thing as even "semi" standards for GPS Cutouts.

So I guess I'll have to see if I can get some new "blanks" dash board panels for my "New to me" 2008 310 DA. SR has made some blunders in the Dash design on the 2008 model so I would be happier with my own design. (Like big led's with lot of writing - positioned very much "in the way" at all times.)

But i'll see if I can make an INCH version.. :) Just for you!

I was just messing with you in regards to the inches version...!!! It is very useful for comparisons as is. I have the 4208 Garmin in my 03 280DA and it fits well.
