Hi,

I was looking at the Garmin 421 and the 431. Anyone have experience with these? I have an 07 240 so I think It will fit perfect in the console. I know the stock dealer option was the 521 but it just seems to just be a screen size difference. They all seem to integrate with the smartcraft system but my question is do I need the S model for the transducer or will it link up to my existing one that is built into the smartcraft system?

I think you will find the only way to integrate Smartcraft Data to a Chartplotter is-

a) Get a Northstar Plotter w/Northstar Smartcraft Capable Gateway

b) Get any NMEA2000 Plotter that features a System Gauge Page Display and connect it via a Merc Monitor Gateway. Single Engine model is about $450

As far as I know there is NO Chartplotter that is out of the box compatible with Smartcraft. If you find one, please let me know.

you should check out the HDS-5 this is my favorite unit it is by Lowrance

I agree! I love my HDS7. Can't wait to do the Smartcraft Integration.
